Tomar, also known in English as Thomar, is a city of some 20,000 and also a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 351.0 km� and a total population of 43,007 inhabitants.

The municipality is composed of 16 parishes, and is located in the district of Santar幦.

It was founded as headquarters of the Knights Templar in Portugal in the 12th century and contains some of the most significant Templar monuments in Europe. Tomar was especially important in the 15th century when it was a centre of Portuguese overseas expansion under Henry the Navigator, the Grand Master of the Order of Christ, successor organization to the Templars in Portugal.

The Convent of the Order of Christ in Tomar, Portugal, was originally a Templar stronghold built in the 12th century. After the Order of the Knights Templar was dissolved in the 14th century, the Portuguese branch of the order was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, which supported Portugal's maritime discoveries of the 15th century.

The Convent of Christ of Tomar is one of Portugal's most important historical and artistic monuments and has been in the World Heritage list of UNESCO since 1983.

This is outstanding! Your composition is fine placing the ruins to one side and allowing us to see the valley below. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and DOF. The sky is great and you have captured it beautifully.

Hi,
really nice picture. The colors are vivid but not too saturated. The lighting looks quite fine, even though parts of the convent are in the shade while the rest of the town is in the sun. Thanks to the angle you really get a good idea of how the convent must tower over the town.

Oi amigo ,
Belo ponto de vis緌 bem diferente do normal , com um bom enquadramento de foto o castelo puxado a lateral da foto e a vista de Tomar de fundo , boa profundidade de foto,gostei muito do c徼 com estas nuvens , estive ai em Mar蔞 mas foi em trabalho apenas tirei umas fotos na hora de almo蔞 , parab幯s!!

Great view ideed. I like your composition: the fragment of the walls in the right is high above which creates a nice effect of being enormous. The clouds are fantastic as well.

That a POV I thought about, but we spend time in Tomar only down there in old town.
Good prespective as one part of picture holding the ancient convert, and left side show the wide vally surrounding town.
Fine scenery of beautiful place - i hope to post more pic. of my own from there.

Very well considered composition making good use of the formation of clouds. Red of the clothes makes my browsing stop, it would be better that possibly he or she is not there. Beautiful work!
