Torres Novas Castle, a photo from Santarem, South

Photographer's Note

Torres Novas had a castle, when the Christian forces reconquered the region for the first time from Muslims, but it is believed that the Celts and the Romans, has already had a fortification prior to the Arab occupation.
The capture of Torres Novas byD. Afonso Henriques, only occurs around 1148, have already been conquered in 1135, and has fallen into the hands of the Arabs.

During the reign of Sancho I began workings to strengthen the defense of the castle, meanwhile, was attacked by Muslim forces who arrived to take, where they were defeated. With the recovery of these areas, ongoing work in the palace.

The 1755 earthquake caused much damage to the castle was abandoned and would be damaged during the French invasion. Classified as a National Monument, the remains of the medieval castle are well maintained.

How come I did not see it in any guidebook to Portugal? May be I did not read it carefully enough...
Very good theme for a night black hour photo. The illuminations are incredible and the contrast is perfect, it really makes a great impression.

molto bella questa immagine notturna di questo spettacolare castello. D'effetto le sagome parzialmente illuminate degli alberi che fanno da sfondo e fantastica la luce calda che fa risaltare l'intera struttura.
Anche il piccolo lampione ai piedi dell'edificio che crea una bella stella � un piccolo elemento di grande effetto.

j� passei por perto deste castelo, mas j� nem me lembrava dele. torres novas fica pr闛imo da estrada que leva � terra de meus pais, mas a estrada n緌 passa na cidade. linda vista do castelo, gosto dos dourados, das luzes e das silhuetas das 嫫vores acima das torres. belo trabalho , gostei muito. bem feito
