Queluz Palace - Throne Room
Throne Room, also called "Casa Grande" and the largest of the three state rooms of the Palace. Its construction started in only 1768, when the marriage of D. Peter with his niece, future Queen Marie, has justified the creation of a large space for the hearings officers.
The Palácio Nacional de Queluz was the royal residence of two generations of monarchs. It was built at the instigation of King Pedro III (1717-1786), to whom the Quinta de Queluz belonged, when he was the third Lord of the House of the Infantado, created in 1654 by a warrant from King João IV for the second sons of the kings of Portugal. This estate comprised all the property confiscated from the supporters of the Filipes after the Restoration and on the accession of the Duke of Bragança (1640) to the throne it included the estates of Manuel de Moura Côrte-Real (1592-1652), 2nd Marquis of Castelo Rodrigo, owner of the country estate of Queluz.
Dom Cistóvão de Moura, 1st Marquis the Castelo Rodrigo, 17th centuryThus it came to be bestowed upon the Infante Pedro, the future King Pedro II (1648-1706), who is believed to have used it as his summer residence. His son and the second Lord of the House of the Infantado, Infante Francisco (1691-1742), became responsible for the work of extending the building and bringing water in to the property, including the construction of the aqueduct which still exists today.
However it was to be King Pedro III (1717¬1786) - the last of the sons of King João V (1689-1750) and his Queen, Mariana of Áustria (1683-1754), and Grand Prior of Crato - who, between 1747 and 1786, would instigate a concerted campaign of works, extending the so-called 'Paço Velho' (old palace) and imbuing it, as the years went by, with the stature of a royal palace. A determining factor in this project was the then Dom Pedro's marriage in 1760 to his niece and the heir to the throne, Princess Maria, which brought him the title of King Pedro III because the couple had already produced sons when she acceded to the throne. Unfamiliar with the politics and intrigues of the Court, but having elegant tastes and habits and being the owner of a considerable fortune, King Pedro devoted his personal and constant attention to Queluz, something which ended only when he died.

Hi Goncalo
Fantastic depth and great use of the wide angle. Love the curve of the chairs.
Actually I am too a bit sorry to leave TE but after 5 years and so many departures and not having enough time - it's the moment. This doesn't mean I won't check out my favourite's photos from time to time.
Regards
Nikki

Bonsoir Goncalo,
Quelle superbe salle bien mise en scène avec un très bel effet de profondeur.
Quel symbole aussi que ces sièges vides dans le contexte actuel.

Hi Goncalo,
The point of view is sending my eyes toward the end of the room which is giving depth to the composition. It is also showing the details and colors of the architecture of the room. There is a lens distortion effect on the walls of the room. The light coming through the windows has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Amicalement

Hi Goncalo,
Good frame to show the interior of a luxury and magnificent old architecture, the new chairs are good contrast to the artistic old walls, distinct indoor photo, good shoot.

Ola Goncalo,
une vuie qui ne manque certes pas de couleurs chaudes, dorures y sont nombreuses, fosion de détains grâce à une netteté incroyable et ce grand angle qui intensifie la profondeur.
Bien vu.
Daniel.
