Photographer's Note

The fishing fleet leaving the harbour of Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Summer 1968.

It's not that I have given up taking pictures, and so have to resort to posting archive efforts; but I rather like old images, as they seem to have a different resonance. And of course Gert Holmertz has given the lead, so this is for him and Ana Dores who must know this place.

I've "visited" Lagos again, virtually, on Google Maps, and driven the Little Yellow Man along this road. It seems that there is now a car park and promenade here, and the fishing fleet looks severely diminished. We camped only a couple of hundred yards up the road: I wonder if the site is still there, or whether it's place has been taken by a high-rise hotel. Toujours 蓷 change, jamais c'est la m瘱e chose!

Nikon film scanner used to digitise the original transparency, but quality not A1.
