Photographer's Note
Here's another photo of the re-enactment of a 19th century market that takes place once a year, near the Monastery of Batalha. It counts on the participation of several local folk groups.
In background, we can see the Monastery of Batalha, one of the most famous and most visited monuments in Portugal. It's Gothic-Manueline style and it was built in the 14th century, by King John I, to commemorate the victory against Castilla, in the Battle of Aljubarrota.

Background church is so nice too.

Hello Ana,
The lack of visible tourists or photographers create an authentic atmosphere. We might believe these women are doing their natural everyday work and just happen to be walking past the magnificent church. I have a photo from Porto from 1984 of a woman carrying a heavy burden on her head. That's another habit I don't think is so common these days, but obviously some elderly women still know how to do it.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Ana,
Very nice that the local folk groups show how formerly everything must done.
Gothic-Manueline style of long time ago makes your picture very attractive.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.
Nice presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

Wow, this is another stunner, Ana! The figures are impressive in themselves, but the background only makes them impressive. Great light, great colours, great subject...that's...err...great, isn't it?

Bonjour Ana,
J'aime beaucoup cette composition.C'est incroyable de constater l'agilité et la force de ces dames avec leur fardeau sur la tête. La lumière est forte et chaude et j'apprécie l'arrière plan.
Amicalement

Hello Ana,
The monastery looks beautiful and is such a wonderful backdrop for these two ladies carrying these large jars as part of the re-enactment. Great photo.

Hello Ana,
I thought this was a real situation not an enactment, it does look realistic!
The women and the monastery are very well photographed, giving us sharp details.
I wonder how long they have to practise to carry jugs on their heads, like this!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

A composição com as duas mulheres carregando o jarro ficou muito interessante, e as paredes velhas do castela forneceram um bonito pano de fundo, ficou muito bom. Parabéns!

Hi Ana
Perfect timing from capturing this moment!
This even looks so realistic that before I read your note I started wondering that maybe you still still see street scenes like this in Portugal. :-)
Best wishes

Hello Ana
Splendid combination with grey and yellow sandstone of the ancient gothic façade and the two women with the jars on their head. An interesting scene to keep the past alive.
Good observation and realisation.
Have a good weekend, groet Rob

Hi Ana
another fine looking shot from your gallery.
as i've mentioned before, i regret not seeing or visiting this Monastery...next time i guess.
for some reason its a funny scene to see the 2 women look like statues with perfect vertical posture - careful not to drop the vase. for me though, the star of the scene is still the large Monastery. Nice one. cheers
Craig
