The probabilities are high that this will be the last Christmas of the "global village".

But which milestone marks its begin, the end of the separation of Old and New World? 1419, 1431 or 1432?

The Madeira Islands were accidentally found by Prince Henry's seaman Joao Goncalves Zarco in 1419.

In 1431, Prince Henry gave his able seaman and knight Gon蓷lo Velho Cabral unprecedented orders: "to sail towards the setting sun until he came to an island."

Cabral did find the only series of volcanic rocks protruding out from under the water in the entire Atlantic, which he named "formigas" or ants.
He was just 25 miles from these mountains rising up to 900 meters.
Yet he missed them because it was a day of poor visibility.

One year later Cabral returned and this time he didn't miss the promised land.

However, in my mind, your picture although interesting lacks slightly of contrast.
