The Franciscan Church, a photo from Cluj, West

Photographer's Note

The Franciscan Church is a place of worship in Cluj-Napoca. It was built between 1260 and 1290, on the site of an older Catholic church destroyed during the Tatar invasions in 1241.

In 1390, the Benedictine monks received the church. They extended it and built a small Gothic cloister near the church, with the help of John Hunyadi.
In 1556, the Queen of Hungary, Isabella Jagiełło moved to the cloister and lived there with her son John II Sigismund Z嫚olya until 1557.

des lumi鋨es difficiles et peu de soleil sur cette place, mais heureusement, il irradie cette 嶲lise qui ressort donc tr鋊 bien avec ses couleurs chaudes. Un cadrage vertical efficace.

I remember this place and the pleasant atmosphere I noticed here while looking for a (non-operating) internet caf�. You have chosen a fine POV to include the parked bikes. The bikes and the long fa蓷de, as well as the trees, give good depth to the picture. The light falls very nicely on the church and the red building beside it.

What so appealing is the glow of warm light catching on the church, and is just great and really sets the mood of the shot, a truly relax and peaceful atmosphere and the combination of fg elements and framing gives it a deeper feel into the distance. And there is a wonderful stark contrasting colors to draw attention and the way you have taken in the whole scene. I think it adds to the emotional impact of the picture. You have captured the moment well and it's the subtle glow that does it.

Hi Daniel,

The yellow tower contrasts superbly against the pale blue sky. Good sharpness & perspective. I like the repetition of the fg bicycles neatly parked on the side-walk. Good shadow detail in the cobblestone street & the people add scale. Have a great Sunday!
