Photographer's Note

Hello friends and colleagues, today I propose a view of the beach and the river in the city of Ribadesella, a charming place at the mouth of the river Sella. I hope you like it, then some letters about the villa.

Ribadesella (in Asturian, Ribeseya) is a council of the autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias. It limits to the north with the Cantabrian sea, to the east with Llanes, to the south with Cangas de On疄 and Parres and to the west with Caravia. Founded by Alfonso X el Sabio. It was one of the main Asturian ports of the 19th century. It has a population of 6,242 inhabitants (INE, 2011).

The council also has numerous companies dedicated to adventure sports, such as canoeing, caving or climbing. The first Saturday of August after day 2 is celebrated the famous International Descent of Sella, where athletes from all over the world attend and a great local party is celebrated.

Also this council stands out for the tourist variety that it offers, and especially for the activities that surround the cave of Tito Bustillo, famous for its prehistoric paintings and for the dinosaur footprints.

During the Middle Ages the town lived a moment of splendor thanks to the shipyards that were nourished by the wood that was lowered by the Sella, and maritime trade, especially salt (essential for salting the fish). However, the most profitable activity was the capture of the salmon in the Sella, controlled by the "Mareantes", and the hunts of the whales that hibernated in those waters. As a result of this the House of the whales that lasts in the village until the nineteenth century is derived.

In the political sphere, Ribadesella became a very contested square thanks to its innumerable sources of wealth and its strategic geographical situation. It is here when the house Qui隳nes takes over the town in the time of Juan II, returning to incorporate the crown in the time of the Catholic Kings who evicted the Qui隳nes family from their possessions.

In the 16th century, a historic event took place for the town, such as the arrival of the Emperor Charles I of Spain, as a result of which the event was celebrated for two days in a row. It is in this stage when the enclosure of the hermitage of the Guide is fortified to defend the port of enemy towns. It is a time of relative tranquility when it comes to safety.

During the seventeenth century an attempt was made to create the main port of Asturias in Ribadesella, in addition to the link with the plateau, presenting a road project by Ponga, but due to Jovellanos influences, it finally fell to the port of Gij鏮 that projected the Pajares highway. access to the plateau by Leon. The beach looks fantastic but is surprisingly empty for this time of the year, early July. The peninsula is very attractive and the colours are very good.

Hello Angel,
The high viewpoint shows the town at the small peninsula very nicely, the colours of the greenish-blue water and the yellow beach surround the place wonderfully. Also some of the houses add some appealing colours to the cloudy day.

grazie per il benvenuto in Spagna, purtroppo il tempo � sempre poco, ma ho conosciuto dei luoghi bellissimi e delle persone molto piacevoli.
Ma non avevo dubbi, vedendo le tue foto e quelle di tanti altri amici, sapevo che non sarei rimasto deluso.
Questa tua foto mi ha ricordato immediatamente un ristorante a Madrid, i proprietari sono delle Asturie e abbiamo mangiato molto bene.

Nice peninsula surrender by the beaches. A splendid place for strolling around. Strange that in the high season, in July there are so few people. Interesting blue buildings.

Hola Angel,

This looks like a place with a lot to offer in the way of seaside recreation. The sandy beach seems to extend all the way around the headland and is surprisingly free of people!
You have found a fine aspect to photograph this pretty town, being able to incorporate the buildings dressed in red, the surrounding sea, the marina and the distant mountains. It is a vast, hugely attractive scene.

beautiful beach surrounds this little peninsula. Great location. Surprisingly the weather is a bit cloudy but nevertheless the effect is very pleasing for the eye.
I thought you took it form the plane or drone but I see some vegetation in the foreground.

this one caught my eye because of that formation and sweeping curves all along the bottom portion, its very attractive. that sand beach is actually VERY large when you really examine it. well cared for buildings, lush greens and an atmospheric skyline, what's not to like. the diffused lighting worked out so well for you. cheers
