Photographer's Note

The Palau de la Musica Catalana is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Barcelona. Unfortunately, no pictures are allowed inside, so I had to take them all from the outside, like this one. The Palau is an Unesco World Heritage Center.

The Palau de la Msica Catalana is an exuberant steel-framed structure full of light and space, and decorated by many of the leading designers of the day. It is one of the finest contributions to Barcelona's architecture by the Catalan art nouveau architect Llu疄 Dom鋝ech i Montaner.

From the Frommers Guide:

"In a city chock-full of architectural highlights, this one stands out. In 1908 Lluis Dom幯ech i Montaner, a Catalan architect, designed this structure as a home for the choral society the Orfe Catala, using stained glass, ceramics, statuary, and ornate lamps, among other elements. It stands today as the most lush example of modernisme. Concerts (mainly classical but also jazz, folk, and other genres) and leading recitals take place here, as do daily guided tours of the buildings. But they say you only really appreciate it when enjoying a concert. A new extension called Petit Palau, including a luxury restaurant, recently opened. "
