After this harmonious facade, the town still hides more harmony among its people, past and present very active, corporate and contagious. It is no coincidence that those are several famous people born here, nor the proliferation of cultural initiatives. Facts also have not fallen on deaf ears. Public awareness has been awarded the prize "Exemplary Pueblo de Asturias" that delivers each year, the Principe Felipe and Puerto de Vega him in 1995. Three years later, in 1998, was elected "Most beautiful village of Asturias" . The local economy is deeply tied to the sea, both the fishing industry as a derivative of canned, salted and marinades who once was firmly in the port environment. The charming fishing fleet lies in a picturesque harbor with a wall including, battlements in perfect condition that slowed piracy in the Middle Ages and to protect the people against the French invasion three centuries later.
