Photographer's Note

Late November, the river is starting to freeze and some snow falls. Everything you see here is ice, the first thin layer. The left part got some snow before the right part froze over. The grey bands are snow that has been half melted by water seeping up through cracks.

Taken from approx 10 m height from a bridge. That dark half is part of the main stream of the river and stays open longer due the movement of the water. The long crackline ends at a bridge pier below the bottom left corner.

Full color picture, only minor adjustments of levels to brighten the snow.
