Photographer's Note
This is the largest abstract I ever uploaded. It is one of the slopes of the mine pit "Stora st飆en" in Falun. Taken from the same place as yesterdays posting but turning the camera a bit to the right and down.
You can see how dumping of waste material back into the pit over the years have formed three bands of different color and texture, one with brown boulders, one with a beige fine grained material and the third with a sulphur colored soil.
To understand the scale, the thin line in the beige material is a timber staircase with some parts of the handrail still standing. So the vertical distance from the steps to the handrail is about one meter.
The sun helped me a bit with the colors, postprocessing was quite modest, just a little contrast and levels.
I have been whriting so much about diagonal compositions in my critiques without making any myself so I thought it was time to deliver.

This is a good exercise in diagonal composition. The angle is perfect, and the object is very interesting (textures and colors wise). To make it a true abstract I would crop the top and bottom to make the lines look endless, and give it less grounding in the real view.

The picture is interesting, the succession of colors, rocks a few trees who managed to take roots the diagonal effect is good.

THe whole image speaks "beware of that slope", it looks like you were standing in a very dangerous place, Ebbe. I like the different colors and the interesting texture of the falling earth on this slope. A very good shot.

Beautiful warm colours in this Ebbe and very effective diagonal composition. I'm not a fan of coloured frames but I like this one - it suits well. This place reminds me a bit of Queenstown in Tasmania, another old mining town.

Nice diagonal variety of colors, Ebbe. Lovely light green birches to set the scale of this huge hole. Impressive work of nature (creating the colors) and man (creating the hole) and you (creating the image). The details in the different textures are amazing - you've really got hold of the sharpening process now. Well done!

I'm glad you did Ebbe, for this is really a spectacular picture. All these very colourfuland sharply rendered layers and the resulting contrasts. The pic can be admired on two levels: the abstract and the actual. Very good job, I added it to my favourites.

I saw your picture yesterday from this wonderful place. I se the small staircase, but it is hard even to imagine the big scale.
I love theose color and the surface, splendid taken with the light and contrast, even it is adjust.
I do agree this is a nature abstract work.
