Sedge Warbler, a photo from Uppland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

This is photo of a Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) is taken in the area along the Fyris River south of Uppsala. It is a rather common bird in summer. However, since it breeding in dense reedbeds in wetlands it is not always easy to spot.

The bird is wintering in Africa and returns to Sweden in May and leaves in September.

Sedge Warblers can be distinguished from other warblers that are found in Sweden first and foremost by their broad off-white spercilium (eyebrow stripes) but also by the reddish brown colour of their rumps and and the dark streaking on their backs. A juvenile bird have a streaked breast while an adult's breast is off white without streaking. Thus, this is an adult bird. The plumage of the sexes are identical.

Sedge Warblers largely feed on insects such as mayflies, dragonflies, damselflies, grasshoppers, beetles and flies, but also on berries and flowers.

Vilken tur att jag r嶡ade ha en smiley kvar. Detta 酺 en otroligt s飆 s銥s幩gare (okunnig som jag 酺 m廛te jag ju googla mig fram till det), och du verkar ha f幩gat den mitt i m嶚tiden. Den sitter perfekt och v鄚der profilen till. Kunde knappast vara b酹tre. Ljuset, milj霵 och den suddiga bakgrunden 酺 utm酺kt bra.

Without being a specialist in bird photography I can really appreciate this one, so sharp and clear luminous and with natural colors of this cute one in daily life situation with its lunch well exposed

H酺 fick jag Googla p� det latinska namnet f顤 att komma fram till att detta 酺 en S銥s幩gare. Detta 酺 ju en f嶓elbild av mycket h鐷 klass. D酺till 酺 det en ytterst v鄟komponerad bild med den susande s銥en som omgivning. Om jag sj鄟v hade haft b嶟e f顤m嶓a och kamera f顤 att ta en s嶟en fin bild, hade jag kanske skurit bort en del av v鄚stersidan p� bilden. Men nu saknar jag tyv酺r b嶟e f顤m嶓a och kamera, s� jag borde ju inte uttala mig ;) Men oavsett det, s� 酺 detta en mycket fin bild och jag ser med sp鄚ning fram mot n酲ta f嶓el.
