Photographer's Note
A bit more of the special mining town architecture. This is part of a house built in the block I showed you yesterday. The blocks where cast in slag, the melted material that is rejected in the metal making.
This house stands on the backside of the big mine in Falun which is one of Swedens top ranking sights. The building was once one of the industrial buildings that was used for the mine operation. Now this building and a few others around it are used by a group of artists.
I liked the contrast between spring green and blood red in this. The text has something to do with the artists and their work so it is a sign, not graphiti. The Swedish word "Zonerna" means "The zones".
Yesterday evening I read Luminous landscapes tutorial on sharpening with USM in Lab color mode on the Lightness channel only and used it here. I think it is an improvement as I have before only used the Sharpen filter and the fade function together with local sharpening with the tool. (How is this for mumbo-jumbo?)

Crisp sharp, that's how it is. I didn't know this sharpening method, I'll have to try it. Result is really very good, thanks for the link info Ebbe. Success in your attempt, for me the good and strong contrast between green and red works fine here. The black as main background color brings also great tonal contrast. Very well composed, the reddish bricks on top of window helps to spot on window. Interesting mix of structure too. Very good work.

I'll keep my mouth shut about the sharpening this time then ;-)
The most remarkable thing here is in my opinion the bricks above the window, the have a strange metallic sheen to them, like fresh copper, very strange.
The three colors are very striking against the dark background, and they are well balanced in the frame - well the frame - I think the red stripe is much too intrusive here

It has an incredibly crisp look to it, Ebbe. A fine textural composition, the blackish color hues in the bricks of the wall are most appealing, and the red bricks above the window have a quality to them that makes them almost look as if they were made of copper. Of course, the nature lover in me appreciates the bush in the foreground :o) Well done.
And thanks for the mumbo jumbo, most of the times I use "adjust -> sharpness -> sharpen" in PSP ... gotta try your method one of these days.

Great, Ebbe. The contarsic colors did a great job here. The red-on-black letters and the red-on-black bricks make a very good compo, together with the nice geometry and the green plant. Well done.

Well composed in colors, structures and materia, Ebbe. Especially the bricks above the "window" look fine. Actually I could do without the text, as I think it requires a bit too much attention, but now it's there and red/black is a "hot" combination.
Well done and nice note - especially the mumbo-jumbo part - too!
