Photographer's Note
From the Schynige Platte-Faulhorn-Bachalpsee-First hiking route:
After arriving Bachalpsee, which is another 40 min walk to First, I decided to take a long break to enjoy the whole view and to forgo the 1700hr last gondola ride down to Grindelwald. That meant an additional three hour walk down to Grindelwald. This photo was taken up the slope soon after leaving the alpine lake as the peak of the Wetterhorn was coming into view again. Right at the top of this slope the path goes down and the full view of the meadows and mountains are laid out before you. Marmots were seen jumping about in the grass - wished I had a longer lens. I was lucky to have cleared the steep forested slope just before it got dark. I was again lucky to get a direction from someone at a mountain lodge. He showed the direction to an asphalt mountain biking path that led straight down to Grindelwald. That was the most punishing part of the walk but then I didn't have to negotiate any rocks and exposed roots in the dark or worse lost my way - didn't carry flash light to be able to look at the map or trail signs. After arriving at my hotel at around 2030 I rewarded myself with some beers & a real good and big meal that cost twice my daily room rate. It was a memorable full day hike.

Serwus Latiff !
Nice vista, that's for sure :)
Good division of the frame to show the diversity of the landscape in Alps. However i miss a better point of reference in the forground's meadow, something that will balance the "Horn" in background. Some problems with compression are also visible in the sky (it's 148kb file, still 50kb to use, maybe here's a problem) and whites are a bit blown out (check the histogram).
Still, nice view in interesting composition.
Be well,
Mat

interesting contrasts but i'd put more of the photo on the mountain and less on the foreground grass.

Nice composition. I'd have liked the shot even more if you perhaps zoomed in a bit further so that we could see more of the mountain and a bit less of the grass.

Lovely composition of the mountain peeping out from behind the hill and the path. Super colours and textures. Great shot. Paul.

Hi Latiff,
Not only it is a beautiful scene, but you've composed this well. The sloping foreground suggests you took this shot from high altitude position. It also effectively framed your main subject. Good resolution and color balance. Well done! TFS

If there's one thing that we can learn from you Latiff, is the fact that regardless whether you are a Malaysian or not, a local or not of the country you are shooting, photography is neutral. If I didn't know this picture was taken by you, I'd have assumed it was done by the local/in country photographer.
I liked the way you "elevated" the viewer to look at the mountain by at first walking up the sight from the rocky trail to the Wetterhorn. And it comes with a good descriptive as well as narrative note. A note is just like the guy you met at the mountain lodge. Without him, you would probably be fumbling your way down the mountain or worst, candidate for "I shouldn't have been alive".

Hi Latiff
I did this walk a couple of years ago but never got to see the Wetterhorn as it was covered in cloud.... what a sight I missed! It was well worth the extra 3 hours, and the light here is excellent. Thanks for bringing back memories of a great walk, which I hope to do again sometime in the summer.
Regards,Susanna
