Twilight on Val鋨e.
The basilica of Val鋨e, also called Castle of Val鋨e, is a strengthened church located on the hill 廧onyme of the town of Sion, Were worth some. It is located with 621 m and fact face with the castle of Swirl located on another hill. This church, Notre-Dame de Val鋨e, built in XIIe and XIIIe century, were the residence of the canons of the Chapter of the Cathedral. They lived there until the French revolution. The old dependences of the canons shelter today the cantonal of history, founded Museum at this place in 1883 and entirely remakes since 2002. The basilica can also be visited and one can hear in particular there the oldest playable organ in the world (1430) at the time of an annual festival: the Festival of the old organ. Val鋨e obtained the rank of minor basilica at the time of the visit of the pope Jean-Paul II in 1984.
