A last view at the Hoher Kasten during the walk in the hills around Appenzell. The series of my trip wil come to an end soon and I can't wait to go there again.

Hi Albrecht,

The sharpness of the house along with the haze in the background almost made me not notice the mountains in the background (this isn't a bad thing...I laughed at myself when I did see them as this was taken in Switzerland). The saturation levels in the foreground also help to lose the mountains in the haze. At first I wasn't sure about the house being so near the center, but I like it now that I've noticed that the left half of the photo is open, and the right half has prominent trees. My only complaint is that the garage door is open, but the owners would probably have thought it strange if you had asked them to close it for a picture, so this is forgivable. Nicely done, and TFS,

J'adore ce pays et j'y viens normalement dans peu de temps.
Une tr鋊 jolie vue de ce bel endroit.
Un bon pov qui nous fait d嶰ouvrir ces montagnes � l'arri鋨e plan et un bon cadrage avec la ferme � l'avant.
De jolies couleurs et la brume � l'arri鋨e donne une ambiance conforme aux paysages suisses.

This just defines idyllic ... the image of Switzerland when one dreams about it. I love how the slightly soft nature of the whole things fits into that. The distant mist .. the way the color fades from bright green to black as we get depth .. the backdrop of those mountains ... wonderful image.

Hi Albrecht,

Thanks for your comments. I like this landscape very much. It combines the soft rolling green hills of the foreground, with the more threatening, jagged peaks of the back. The lighting isn't the best it could be, but that's hardly any fault of your own. I think I would have preffered a slight tilt to the right, as the house looks like it's sinking a little, but that's a minor detail. And the foreboding clouds overhead only add to the atmosphere of the shot. Really, this is a fabulous place, fabulously shown.

Hello Albrecht,
Makes me think of two things: The old Swiss calendars distributed by Insurance Companies, with great views of Helvetia. You really found the light and subject, your march was certainly worth.
And also the Appenzell cheese which I am fond of.
I used to be a keen collector of Swiss stamps too, during the 70's.

Wonderful shot, Albrecht! Your composition is excellent, balanced and appealing! The house, the tree line and the FG grass are so Swiss landscape, with the valley and mountains at the BG. The road winding to the right takes us across the frame from one element to another, and developed the picture gradually.
