Trafalgar Square, a photo from London, England

Photographer's Note

This was taken in Trafalgar Square, those of you with a keen eye might notice that Trafalgar Square is covered in grass; part of a scheme to raise awareness for local green areas. The picture isn't that good because of the reduction in size, it looked much better big, and alot less like a where's waldo picture! The grass is coming out tomorrow after only two days of being there

nice one luke,, i have just put the daily mirror down after looking at trafalgar square grassed over ,,go on the computer and whats the first picture i see !!like the shot but i wonder what the pidgeons think

Hello Luke -

I was going to make a comment about Grass at Trafalgar but you cleared that up in your note. I really think the problem with this image is two fold, first is the relatively shallow DOF that you used to take the image and the other is that the image looks like it is smaller than 800pxs.

Hi Mate,

It's a lovely colourful shot and a great note. When I first saw it I couldn't believe it was Trafalgar Square....perhaps that'll teach me to read the note first! John's hit the nail on the head and you yourself have said it's a small file size, any reason for it? No matter, it's all a learning curve and it's a good effort.

Hello Luke,

What I like about this shot is how fresh it is, shot and posted on the same day. The crowd milling about, colorful and carefree. Only once did I take and post a photo this quickly after posting was a testament to comtemporary technology. If you have a moment, take a look at Ponte Buriano. Excellent composition, definition and color rendition. The one constructive suggestion is to post the deserving photo larger, simply by saving it at a lower quality, e.g. 8 on a scale of 12 in Photoshop.
