Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,

When at the seaside, most families like to sit and watch the waves of the sea roll in, whilst licking contentedly on an ice-cream.

It immediately reminded me of the song "I Do Like to be Besides the Seaside' a song made famous as a signature tune by Reginald Dixon MBE, who was the resident organist at the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool between 1930 and 1970.

It speaks of a time when the yearly visits of the British working-class to the seaside were booming.

Post Covid, and with the increased price of fuels, many families have decided to stay in their own country, and seaside towns have had a resurgence of interest. The hot summer added to the appeal.

Thank you for sharing my spot of nostalgia, Bev :-)
