Photographer's Note

A shot of the Lay Brothers Refectory at Fountains Abbey near Ripon in North Yorkshire.
The magnificent ruined Abbey and its grounds, which include the Studley Royal Water Garden, are a fantastic place to visit with photo opportunities everywhere.

The abbey was founded in 1132 by exiled Benedictine monks who later became Cistercian monks. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539 by Henry VIII the abbey fell into ruin.
