Hogwarts Castle, a photo from Northumberland, England

Photographer's Note

I have already presented two photos from this amazing castle HERE but I found it so attractive that I decided to share the third one. It has been actually taken from a very similar POV to the one with broomstick training but I believe it is quite different.

About Alnwick Castle
The current duke and his family live in the castle, but occupy only a part of it. The castle is open to the public throughout the summer. After Windsor Castle, it is the second largest inhabited castle in England. Alnwick was the tenth most-visited stately home in England according to the Historic Houses Association, with 195,504 visitors in 2006.
An increase in public interest in the castle was generated by its use as a stand-in for the exterior and interior of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Its appearance in the films has helped shape the public imagination regarding what castles should look like. Its condition contrasts with the vast majority of castles in the country, which are ruinous and unfit for habitation.

Neat picture and very good light upon on a bright day.
Allocation between diff. colors and the contrast superbly rendered. I remember the previous post from that castle.

What a great photo and you had such fantastic weather conditions. The light brings out the warm tones of the castle so well and they look even better against the perfectly blue sky. The composition is excellent, the path bends away to the right very nicely.

Hello Mariusz,
The choice of the square frame results in a pleasing nicely balanced composition. The textured pathway makes a lovely lead-line drawing the viewer into the image. The people relaxing on what looks like a very pleasant September day animate the scene and provide scale. The whole is very well exposed with superb colours and clarity.

Great composition of this castle .... wonderful, spectacular and well preserved, the golden stone stands out in the green lawn and in that blue sky, it is a place to enjoy with the camera.
Excellent POV, with very good lighting, color and sharpness to enjoy the details.

Wspaniały zamek, o kt鏎ym przed twoimi zdjęciami nie słyszałam, chociaż juz Bev tam była. Niesamowite, ze jest ciagle zamieszkały przez te sama rodzinę od 700 lat. Największy zamieszkały zamek w Anglii po kr鏊ewskim! To robi wrażenie. Informacja o Harrym Potterze i miotłach nie robi na mnie wrażenia, ale przeczytałam, ze "grał" r闚nież Downtown Abbey. I to nie tak daleko od siebie masz taka wspaniałość. widziałam w Googlu, ze jest tam jeszcze ciekawa restauracja w domku na drzewie i wspaniałe ogrody, zwłaszcza wiosna gdy kwitną zonkile. Świetna ostrość i super kolory, ale dlaczego, tak jak i inne Twoje zdjęcia, jest takie małe? większy efekt byłby, gdyby było na cały ekran. Boisz się kradzieży?

Hello Mariusz,

Like you, I took lots of photographs around this castle because it is a wonderful example of its type! I don't think any of us would ever tire of seeing your photographs of 'Hogwarts'! Did I tell you that a friend of mine served her teacher training in Alnwick, with her dormitory in the castle!

I love how you have used the pathway which guides on a gentle curve, leading us alongside the castle and the training students, to a strong vanishing point. The light is beautifully managed, giving clarity to the building, with nice contrasts of sunlight and shadows.

Fine view of the castle, looks like you picked a bright day and good use of your wide lens with excellent perspective, great colours and detail. I love especially the beautiful tones in the stonework. I think we just needs a few quidditch players in the sky!
