Photographer's Note
“But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse”
Matthew 7:26-27
I don’t think this castle was actually built on the sand but that was a visual impression which I had looking at that view. This photo presents Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland. I visited it not for the first time towards the end of May 2020. The weather forecast was great, and I knew from prior experiences that the vast beach next to it is empty even on a sunny bank holiday weekend. Interesting fact which you need to know about Bamburgh Castle is, that similarly to Edinburgh, it is far from being pronounced as German Burg in Hamburg. Wikipedia says it should be pronounced as /ˈbæmbərə/ but I usually hear something close to Bambra (or Edynbra respectively).
I have previously showed on TrekEarth the classic postcard style point of view on this magnificent castle:
https://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=8&p=1422151
Here I tried to show it from a less popular angle.

Hello dear friend and have a nice new week
you are the first in the gallery now
with a fantastic photo and a castle
perfectly executed!!!!!!!
I red carefully your useful notes
and particularly the three first
lines....but everyone who hears these
words of mine and.......
me personally I think that this castle
is too strong with a dynamic history
and I do not think that was
actually built on the sand!!!!!
welldone

Hi Mariusz
A good photo of the castle from the beach. Given how the UK's coastline is under threat I'd guess that the castle is slowly but surely getting closer to the coast.
cheers

Hello Mariusz,
Wow, it's really an impressive castle and it is a fantastic photo of it, taken in excellent sunlight, with a nice blue sky behind it and one big white cloud floating over it. Good inclusion of the beach in the foreground also.

Having visited Bamburgh some years ago on a very grey day you have certainly captured it in its full glory. You have perfectly positioned it with just that hint of beach in the foreground.
Northumberlands beaches are quite stunning and often quite empty.
Thank you for reviving my memories.

Hello Mariusz, this point of view is not one that I have seen of Bamburgh before, so it makes a welcome change.
The blue sky makes the perfect background. The light highlights all the different faces of the castle.
Informative notes.
Kind regards, Jean.

That's one big castle, Mariusz, one of many in the UK, less known to me and shown in full width from where taken at the beach.
Good scale of layers from the sandy beach up the dune and green mound above and beyond.
Impressive fortification, shown well under the bright daylight.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Dobre skojarzenie z zamkiem na piasku, a poza tym kazdy szczegol pokazuje ze jest zamek to w Wielkiej Brytanii a nie np. we Francji czy Grecji

Hello Mariusz,
Wow! A castle with a private beach!
So your daughter knew where to have fun while you visited the castle :)
It looks very large and impressive and in this picture abandoned and forgotten by everyone.
Beautiful with the dune landscape between the beach and the green hill.
Best regards, Paul

Mariusz, the visitors can combine a visit of this wonderful castle if it s open and a walk on the beach of sand. That fortress was probably built on the seashore for defensive purpose. Maybe to anticipate attacks coming from ships. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

I presume the "cube" at right is the original norman castle because the style and the rest should be more modern areas, attached after. amazing castle I liked a lot its details and aspect. excellent image.

Hi Mariusz,
An unusual view of the castle from this sandy beach. Good sharpness and well composed using the rule of thirds. Excellent depth and layering. Tfs!

Hello Marius,
Bamburgh is on of my favourite Castles. I have encountered it a lot in historical novels by Bernard Cornwell, who spent 6 months here, researching the building and area. Sadly, it has only been quite grim and rainy when we have explored it but, maybe that suits the image!!
This is a fine view from the dunes!
You have been able to capture the castle in its entirety, revealing its imposing setting and closeness to the sea.
The building looks formidable, a hard conquest for anyone approaching from the sea! Your details are sharp, well lit and supply lots of very useful visual information.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
How wonderful, even on a holiday weekend, that this beach should be so quiet! And you also had the most beautiful weather with fine sunlight and blue skies to be able to relax, enjoy fresh air and also take this excellent photograph.
Quite a different view from that of which we have become accustomed, but rather refreshing too with glorious light, rich colours, a fine composition and excellent detail and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Mariusz.
This castle is fantastic and so well preserved, the site by the beach beautiful and not very frequent, I like the variety of volumes within its walls and the main tower is distinguished above all else, beautiful day with a sky of which you don't have many, that cottony cloud gives its perfect touch.
Point of view, sharpness, luminosity, color and the chosen composition are excellent.
A very beautiful photo. I like.
You have a good day.
Best regards.
Luis.

Hi Mariusz
wow, what a Castle! I need to learn more about this place, i'll have to check out your other shot of it too. And you couldn't have placed the large popcorn cloud better hahaha. This place MUST have been restored, it looks almost as if it were built only a few months ago. amazing, I wonder how it looked back when it was constructed, and how its changed over the centuries. super impressed, perfect postcard shot
cheers

Hello Mariusz!
Despite the size of the castle and the brilliance of day and photographer, I ask myself for whoch reason such a structure was set up in the very place which a just found on Google maps. I don't see neither purpose nor military value.
Have a fine week!
Sven
