Fishing for Tyres!, a photo from Northumberland, England

Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This is a photograph of Beach Court, a quite unique house overlooking the sands at Beadnell. It is one of those houses that, like a model, you just want to photograph from every angle, making sure you get all its personality and its 'best' side!

So why the title!

When I was taking this photograph, a family was walking along the beach and I heard the small girl enquire of her mother - "Have they been fishing for tyres?"

Indeed, a singular looking property and a very attractive one. The abandoned tires are less so, but they serve to give your composition depth and counterbalance the main subject. The image is pleasantly illuminated and has very good colours and clarity. Thanks for sharing.

aren't youngsters magic with the way they perceive the world. If only we could keep that innocence as we age, I am sure the world would be a better and safer place. Ho Hum! A fascinating shot and a wondrous place to live, providing the tides are not too high! I really like the grasses that look like hair at the edge of the beach.

Bonjour Beverly,

Tu as bien fait d'inclure les vieux pneus dans la composition. Cela montre malheureusement tout ce que les gens lancent � la mer et polluent.Le mot d'enfant est tr鋊 joli ainsi que la photo. Quelle belle maison.

The title made me lough, Beverly, I might had asked the same... and how come nobody cared to take this tire away?
Yet, I seew on the distance even two more tires, so maybe the low tide revealed what not had seen before...
Nicely spotted and well shown, the beautiful mansion is a nice bonus here.

Maybe some less talented photographer would have taken a few steps forward to avoid those tyres, but they certainly fill the empty foreground and give an original twist to the view. They also provide an amusing story. It's just a sligh pity they don't make tyres in red :-).

Hi Bev,

One would expect that the tyre would ruin the compo, because it is not the prettiest thing to see on a beach. That doesn't happen here. You did a fine composition using it to "fill" the FG of that charming house. And the story is lovely indeed!

I don't mean to nitpick, but I have to say, you've spelled "tires" incorrectly. ;) Sorry, couldn't help myself. lol

I've come across many of the same types of beachfront properties along the Oregon coastline and have thought, and done, the same as yourself...so I'm sure this imagery and your notes speak to so many us in close connection!

At first glance, I thought the tire/tyre was actually a washed up eel!? But sure enough, one can catch just about anything imagined in the oceans and seas, so why not a tire, yeah? :) All of my poor attempts at humor aside, this is a lovely result of an impressive and attractive house...easy to understand the desire to photograph as much of it as possible. Enjoy the new day. All the best.

I didn愒 read your title, just took a quick look at the picture. I thought I saw a big fat dead snake wiped up on the shore, an anaconda or something. But just some trivial tyres, quite a disappointment... But still a fine picture with the red roofs against the blue sky, an interesting architecture too. A very good observation.
