Photographer's Note
There were a couple of sunny days last December just before they introduced much tighter Covid restrictions in England. Among other places I visited Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens. In those short winter days, the sun travels quite low through the sky. It is not the easiest time for photography because there is plenty of shade everywhere but if you are lucky, you can find some beautiful spots interestingly lit by the warm sunshine. This photo was taken in a park around the Belsay Hall.
Today is the 13th anniversary of me becoming the TrekEarth member. Looking at the bench in the park and this round anniversary, made me think about the word "benchmark". I am marking my anniversary with the bench photo, ha ha.

Hello Mariusz,
An excellent photo to mark 13 years of TE. Congratulations.
An excellent example of how a simple photo can become special because the sunlight falls so beautifully on the green grass and spreads the shadows of the jagged trees.
Excellent work
Have a nice Sunday, Groet Rob

Hello Mariusz,
Reading your notes made me realise that we have been members of this site for approximately the same length of time and though we have seen many changes, it still feels like a place to meet friends and share good photographs.
Winter can be difficult for photography but, then, it can also reveal dramatic moods.
What I particularly like in your photograph is the green arena of grass and the lovely, long winter shadows which are crossing it and drawing attention to the empty bench ... obviously awaiting the appearance of a star!
Have a good Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz, I like your idea that marks your 13th anniversary. The long shadows and the bare trees , it has to be December.
The shadows are particularly nice.
The sun just showing through the tree completes the picture.
The bench is an excellent focal point.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
Wonderful green and shadows cast over this corner at the park.
used well the backlight with no disturbance to the main subject.
There are several tones of green, reckon at second glance upon. My cong.s for 13th anniversary... many more to come.
Good afternoon,

I was sure in december there was no greens in the lawns in UK, even here the lawns are destroyed after the frosts..
I liked a lot the green and the shapes of the trees in black around, the bench is a nice detail. congratulations for 13 years of patience here. haha.
take care

Hello Mariusz,
Congratulations on your 13th anniversary on this site.
The bench is well placed to enjoy the winter sun that shines through the leafless branches.
Beautiful long shadows and silhouettes of the branches.
Best regards, Paul

Pozdrav.

Hello Mariusz,
Happy 13th TE anniversary! It seems that we both joined within a few months all those years ago. I like the play of light and shadow in this photo, and the bench is perfectly placed in the scene. It seems both lonely, and hopeful at the same time. Let's enjoy TE while it still lasts!
