Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Can you remember experiencing castles as a youngster?
What an exciting experience it was!
Imagination was everything as visions of soldiers and horses and battles crowded your thoughts.
I just loved this scene.
There were the daffodils for colour and a ruined tower of Dunstanburgh Castle for an interesting focal point but more than that, a family was sharing the experience. They were talking about the ruins with great excitement. What a great way to learn!
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
nice the placement of the ruins in the frame with the family to adds scale in the scene as life too.The lot of daffodils on the foreground and the others created layers make the image even more effective.
Have a good week,Danos

Hello Bev,
An interesting and inspiring note and a lovely picture to illustrate it!
The ruined remains of the castle are perfectly placed in the frame against a clear blue sky and beautifully underlined by the bright yellow daffodils in the nearest foreground. Lovely warm soft light, fine colours and excellent details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Good morning Beverley,
Thanks for your note on mine today, learnin a new English word: "prickly", very much prickly...
With regards to this pic., just recollect that we have a known saying here in Israel: "Learning the country through the feet..." meaning, while hiking and exploring we know much more - probably same same for every place on earth.
Graet view of the ruins through the beautiful yellow daffodils in the FG.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Great view across the clump of daffodils. The ruined tower is well placed slightly off-centre and the family group provide a sense of scale. An image very nicely illuminated and with good colours and clarity. Brings back memories of day trips with my parents to Wales and the castles at Harlech and Caernarfon, times when the sun always shone:-) Thanks for sharing.

Hello Bev.
Good idea to associate the castle with our experience as youngster. We do have a castle-ruin here in the neighbourhood, but not on an isolated spot like this one. This is typical English scene for me. The daffodils are a perfect foreground but in my childhood I only had eyes for the castle. So you can see how interests change when you grow older.

Bonjour Beverly,
J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. A partir du point de vue très bas qui utilise les fleurs sauvages comme avant plan tout en donnant de la profondeur à l'image. Le reste du château est bien placé dans le cadre et la lumière est superbe.
Amicalement

Dear Beverley,
Sadly there are no castles in Australia so you're lucky to have such a rich heritage. The yellow daffodils set up a great warm cold color contrast with the blue sky and the ruined castle makes a fine focal point on the horizon. Tfs!

Hello Beverley,
Lots of daffodils in the north of England. Here it looks like they're even growing in the wild.
A beautiful and very particular representation of the ruined castle, a picture that you can't take very often.
Very well composed.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Beverley,
Oh yes, I do remember that, there were some castle ruins close to the place where I grew up and they always fascinated me. Great photo with even some more daffodils! The castle looks great and is well placed in the composition. The people are a wonderful detail indeed.

Wonderful picture, especially with the flowers on the foreground and the couple in the distance, near the ruins of the old castle, all in a very well made composition. Good work, congratulations!

Hello Bev
A simple and very effective composition. And you're right about kids and castles: I remember being taken to Hadleigh Castle above the Thames estuary for blackberry picking by my mum when I was a smally boy. I charged about and let her pick the blackberries...

Hi Beverley!
Here we cannot find these daffodils in the wild nad they make such a nice foreground. The ruins look like a fantastic place to visit. Beautiful composition with the family on the way to visit them.

Greetings Bev,
Indeed - a great shot which captures the child-like (but not childish) romance of castles. Great foreground with the daffodils and the positioning of the castle, taking up a relatively small portion of the frame (together with the low PoV) emphasises the isolation in the environment. In this specific case, I am not sure about the presence of the three people in the frame - the shot could be even better if the building was in complete isolation. My opinion, anyway - but a lovely shot. Thanks, Iain.
