Boats on Holy Island, a photo from Northumberland, England

Photographer's Note

These boats on Holy Island looked stranded when the tide was out, and gave the impression that they were walking on the water. This bay is located quite close to Lindisfarne Castle, just a small distance along the coast.

Shot into the light, it gives the impression of being darker than it was, but it still kept the water looking sparkly!

I love this island and this is a different aspect looking out at low tide.

The exposure gives the clouds real drama.

What fantastic light- the detail in the clouds is superb. I'm a bit conscious of the slope in the horizon (but you've done better than I ever manage!)

Hi Vicky,
A special place. Low tide revealing a lot of ground, boats separated from their natural element, sand banks in the ackground. Beautiful shot on difficult light. Maybe extra sharpening for the foreground would emphasize the reflections.
