Upon Tyne, a photo from Tyne and Wear, England

Photographer's Note

I have visited Newcastle upon Tyne for the first time almost exactly three years ago. It was clear for me from the beginning that the quays are the most interesting aspect of the town and the bridges are the highlights. I have shared with you already several views taken along the quays. Yesterday I went to Newcastle for a short walk with my family and the weather conditions were just perfect. So I will show you several more views from Newcastle.
This picture was taken from the pedestrian Millenium Bridge. The bridge was shaking a lot since there were a lot of people and bikes passing behind my back. I thought it will be not sharp at all but it is not too bad.
It was well after blue hour already but since the day was very bright without any clouds at all the remaining sunlight stayed there for very long time in the west.
I have already presented here a similar view (CLICK HERE) which was taken from a POV much further backwards from this point. If you have a look at it you will see another shape, white arch of the MIllenium Bridged added to this view here.
The oval shape in the left is the Sage, a modern concert hall. In the right you see an amalgam of several bridges but the main shape belongs to the Tyne Bridge which was a miniature prototype of the Harbour Bridge in Sydney. HERE you can see my photo presenting the Tyne Bridge from the other side.

Hello Mariusz,

Its a most photographic location and the bridges certainly are the highlight. We are immediately drawn to the wonderful arch over the river, reflected to create an exotic eye shape! The details and the light are superb.

Cześć Mariusz, co za zbieg okoliczności. Dzisiaj wzięłam do opracowania redakcyjnego książkę o mostach ruchomych, czyli rodzajach most闚 zwanych kiedyś zwodzonymi. Jest w niej duzo obrazk闚 - szkic闚 i zdjęć. W domu oczywiście przejrzałam sobie te obrazki, czy są jakies mi znane mosty, i oczywiście jest tam i Transporter z Middlesbrough i Millennium Bridge. Czy masz może zdjecie samego Millennium zamkniętego i otwartego?
Super nocne zdjecie. Ostrośc, kolory niesamowite.

What a stonking evening shot! There's just enough light left to create interest in the sky, and your framing is classic. I particularly like the way the bridge's shape is echoed by the Sage building (maybe the architects had that in mind, as they knew the location near the bridge). Sydney's larger version is known locally as the "coathanger"; I wonder if Geordies have a nickname for theirs. This is decisively not a postcard!

Marvelous night over the river picture, and illuminated bridge and edifices around are well reflecting over water, Mariusz.
The most eye-catching element is the modern building on left, a concert hall, I want to believe the acoustics indoor's is no less value as it looks.

its a simple wow from me!
I know what you mean about people walking by and riding bikes along the bridge shaking it...i encountered the same thing in Chicago.

this one is maybe one of your best shots ever!
its so crystal clear and sharp with superb exposure.

the illumination, the dark vs light, the reflections...what more could you ask for?

hi mariusz, i see we are neighbours this evening. your composition is as always fantastic and almost mesmerizing. the dark sky is a wonderful canvas and contrast to the amazing colours of the city lights. you have a perfect amount of sky above and water below the busy middle part. the reflections in the water are the added bonus which completes this visually appealing image.

excellent this nocturne view of the town. I only walked in the background, nor in this area where you were. in that day there was a marathon around this area and I had few time to be there.
