The remains of an old mountain cottage made more isolated than usual by a recent heavy snowfall. Back in the day it must have been a lovely place to live surrounded by such a beautiful landscape.

Hello Derek

Difficult weather and light conditions, which you've handled well. Snow scenes are so often under-exposed by virtue of the photographer relying on the camera's meter, creating disappointingly grey, drab "snow", but you obviously know the potential pitfalls, and have pushed the exposure an extra stop (I'm guessing!) You've created an atmospheric shot, with a dramatic sky and muted tones which suit the subject perfectly. And what a great location!
