Portree, a photo from Highland, Scotland

Portree is the main town ("capital") of Skye. It is the main town for tourist accommodation with plenty of hotels although we rented a small cottage in a rural area (car needed).
The most popular photos of Portree on TE from right in the town tend to feature a colourful row of buildings to the left of those in the main photo. There is one of the colourful ones in the WS.
The town is a port for recreational boats and for fishing boats. The other WS photo looks out from above the town.

Hello Ian,
Chosen here the unusual sight of Portree bay, while the colored houses as shown on the WS are the most pictured spot there.
I found Portree attractive from any angle, beautiful small tonw in the Isle, though not easy to fine a clear day during summer, because its the rainy season there.

Hello Ian,
Very nice buildings on two levels, each one with a design of its own. I recognized the colourful buildings in the WS and found that one similar photo had been posted by none other than yourself. The other WS also shows a very pretty view.

Hello Ian,

What a delightful series of photographs from this picturesque fishing village. The row of colourful houses is more typical for a post but you show it as well in your w/s.
The exposure is first rate, detailing the buildings and their relationship with the loch. The buildings close to the water's edge seem to be watching out and caring for the many boats. The buildings are amazingly varied!

Hello Ian,
The colourful houses in WS2 are indeed a sight I've seen on TE and other sites before.
Your main photo is well composed in different horizontal layers. At a short distance from each other, three rows of houses stand at a considerable height from each other.
Excellent shot of the boats of Portree between an exuberant green foreground and the other side covered by dark clouds.

the main post is a different image of the place. I have images from the same spot in WS too. when I was there the island was filled with tourists and I had lots of troubles to get a meal.
