Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in new tabs for the better versions.
The Neolithic Ring of Brodgar is about 5,000 years old so is older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids but it is not as old as the nearby Stones of Stenness.
Most henges aren't exact circles but this one is and has a diameter of 104 metres. It is the only henge like that in the UK. They've never worked out its exact age.
There's another view in the WS.

Hello Ian!
This is something beautifully taken, almost HDR quality, but without its exaggerations.
And these Neolithic memories commemorate one of the early epochs of mankind.
I haven’t been to the north of Scotland yet, but we have visited some memories like this in the north of England and the south of Scotland.
What you photographed is in remarkably good condition.
Regards
Csaba

Hi Ian
An interesting Neolithic site with good sharpness, lighting and framing. The purple heather adds a bright splash of colour. Tfs!

Pozzdrav.
Interesantan i lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Lepi kameni stubovi i priroda, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa oblacima koji dolaze i najavljuju promenu vremena.
Lep stari prsten iz doba Neolita.
Dobar rad sa lepom fotografijom u radionici.
Zelim vam sve najbolje.

As written before, it is an amazing phenomenon that can be found all around the UK, monolitic stones array's from ancient era, Ian.
Juxtaposition POV with fine DOF all the way till far hilly terrain.
Good evening,

Hello Ian,
The stones are impressive and their history is mind-blowing. It's a well composed photo with one stone so close that we can almost feel its rough surface. The green, purple and yellow ground adds beauty to the view.

Gert

Hello Ian
Two great shots of these standing stones on Orkney. The good light brings out the purple heather and the sky is impressive too. In the main shot I also like the presence of the houses in the distance.

Hi Ian,not as famous as Stonehege but older and certainly less touristy, again 2 photos without people inside with magnificent perspectives, another interesting thing to visit in Orkney. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ian,
This is one of those photos where it is not that improtant what you photographed but how you did it.
The composition is so well thought through with the blooming heather on thoth sides. The side light contributed a feeling of depth. You have also very skillfully processed it to emphasize the clouds and overall sharpness of the picture.
Excellent work,

Hello Ian,
A structure from about 5,000 years ago is impressive, however primitive it may look. I also like those purple flowers.

MT
