Very much a "nothing special" picture, this was taken two weeks ago during the course of an idyllic eight mile circular walk in the Scottish Borders from Peebles along the banks of the River Tweed to Lyne Station. It was a beautiful warm spring day, the birds were singing and wild flowers showing their pretty heads everywhere.
Here we were passing Barns Tower, a small but imposing stone built tower with thick walls and tiny windows built in the last quarter of the 16th century and having undergone some extensive restoration in the late 18th century.
If you're interested, the tower has recently been modernised internally and can be rented for self-catering holiday accommodation as you can read here.

Hello John,
The photo offers a lovely view of the tower emerging so nicely from the trees that surround it. The sunlight was so nice and gentle and touched the warm pastel tones of the walls so well. The two men were well included in the foreground, adding life to the photo.

Hello John,
Looks a delightful spot for some R&R. Well photographed from this angle, nicely framed by the trees and with your two fellow walkers giving the composition depth and perspective. Agreeable lights and pleasant natural colours. Very good sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Bonjour John,
On dirait l'arrivée après un long périple pour arriver à cet endroit qui se découvre au détour des arbres qui le bordent.Magnifique maison à étages dans les teintes de rose.
Amicalement

Hello John,
Yes, a nothing special, and you should be proud of that; the finest category of photography. Seriously, it's a very well composed photo of the quite beautiful building whose pink walls match the green surroundings perfectly. You placed your friends in very good positions in the foreground and exposed the photo very well. I love how nicely you captured the rough texture of the walls. This could certainly be a nice place to rent, but how on earth is one bottle of wine expected to last two persons for a week - or more?
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
This looks like a very substantial and strongly built property. You would feel like the king of the castle, or the lord of the loch, if you stayed here! I see it is close to Dawyck Gardens, which we visited when we came to Peebles.
You have created a very well composed photograph, your walking friends giving immediate f/g interest and acting as very effective guides into the scene. Their shadows and lack of jackets inform us about the type of day you were experiencing.
The house has an undeniable, olde worlde charm, as it peers secretively from the security of the trees, its rough, textured surface, softened by its pink colouration.
It's a fine photograph!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John
you certainly like going on these long walks, good for you, gotta keep the body in shape right? I like how the two men are looking up at the tower, as if they've been walking for hours waiting to get to it and now they've seen it for the first time. Your scene is smartly framed with all the branches on the sides, as if protecting the main focal point. excellent lighting and exposure all the way through. Nicely textured walls of the tower too. I like this
cheers

Hello John, first question... do your friends follow your posts on TE? Second.... do they mind being models for your pictures?
Joking apart, this is a lovely 'nothing special' scene.
Perfectly composed, the lane and the two men leading us towards the building. It is a lovely tower, I just love the windows, and the colour and texture of its' walls. The fresh green of spring in the surrounding trees frame the scene beautifully.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards Jean.

Hello John,
I can me imagine the walk, along nice old buildings and green oases and winding rivers.
This are the most best isolation buildings with the small windows.
Here was no air conditioner need.
Your picture is of high quality perfect of sharpness and lovely colours.
Excellent done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

hello John, Lovely picture of your usual walking with your friends. Interesting information about this tower for rent. I checked the link, tried to rent but I didn't succeed. Most dates are unavailable. hahaha. It looks very cozy inside but our place in Lake District was better. (Can you believe it was 8 years ago?).
wonderful composition, nice natural colours and sharpness.
Kind regards MAlgo
