Last weekend, just four days ago, Scotland was basking in mild and sunny Springtime weather but this was the scene which greeted my old friends and myself as we yesterday took our regular Wednesday country walk - snow, sleet, wind and a temperature hovering around 0°C.
This was taken near the little village of Carmichael and the sheep are of the Scottish Blackface variety, a breed which is remarkably tough and hardy - these ladies didn't seem to be at all upset by the weather!
ISO 100, 1/200 sec at f/8, focal length 53mm.

Hello John,
It's a lovely view, but it would have been more appropriate in January. But this is what we are used to also in Scandinavia (and obviously in Switzerland), and this kind of seasonal backlash usually won't last long. The pretty sheep don't look like they will feel cold, and I suppose someone will bring them food, so they won't complain. It's a very charming photo, and I have to admit that the snow covering the trees so perfectly looks beautiful.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ha! Ha! John, I hope you were wearing clothes as thick and water resistant as those sheep!
I have recently critiqued Nicolas' photograph, revealing some similar conditions!
Despite the inclement conditions, your photograph is crisp and clear, one sheep in particular posing to give attention to your photograph. The trees create a most attractive b/g and I love that the snow is still falling; it always adds atmosphere!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
We see again nature are unpredictable.
But happy shall this not long remain.
Your picture is real extraordinarily nice.
Composition and presentation are splendid.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello John,
Our weather is certainly not predicable! There was sleet and hail even down in London and Sussex yesterday. When are lambs born in your area as they could feel the cold perhaps.
Lovely shot with soft tones and good sharpness especially in the sheep watching what you are doing.
Kind Regards, Ann

Ciao John
per essere l'inizio di aprile non mi sembra il clima giusto, per questo anche le povere pecore si sentono a disagio.
Simpatica foto, di ottima qualità.
Saluti

helo John ,
The same surprise than our friend Nicou !
In Brittany , it's quite cold , but no snow , only hail showers .
I suppose that those sheep are not afraid at all by this kind of weather ;)

Bonjour John,
Une belle surprise toute blanche mais que vont-elles se mettre sous la dent. En espérant pour elles que cela fonde au plus vite, mais pour le moment il faut en profiter.
Amicalement

Hello John The sheep look very surprised. So much fresh snow. This time the big difference in the weather - we have a very warm and sunny day, I put the lighter jacket. Stunning composition.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hello John, a lovely spontaneous scene whilst out on your regular walk. We even had a dusting of snow on Dartmoor!
Almost monotone. You were fortunate that the sheep didn't all run away when you came near. Fancy sitting down on that cold snow?
Thanks for sharing, let's hope it warms up soon.
Regards Jean.

Hi John
This is so beautiful! The snow-covered sheep, the Winter Wonderland in the background and I can even see some flakes dancing in the air...
It snowed even in London that day but didn't even settle.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi John
what the heck??? I wasn't expecting to see this snow, given the fact you took this photo a couple weeks ago. I'm about to ask an ignorant question...you said "these ladies" in your note, how can you tell they're female, or are you just using the 'these ladies' loosely. Seems like one of them has your attention. Glad you included a lot of the bg scenery, the snow piling up on the branches are a good addition. Lets hope for warmer temps! cheers
Craig
