I was going to entitle this posting more along the lines of 'What happens when a photographer goes out for the day with the family in tow" but it wouldn't fit on the title box.

I am reminded by SnapRJW's 100th posting here and by Tyro's comment of our recent TE trip to Stowe, and my lack of contribution to a record of the event here on TE.

I am resolved to post five pictures this week to make good that oversight. ( time permitting ! )

Whilst wandering around these magnificent gardens with Rosemary, Iain, Ann and Richard, my attention was distracted by this sight. Photographer oblivious to all around him except 'The Shot' and the family having to make progress on their own.

Not that I recognise the symptom myself, its just that I have heard it can happen...

What I can say, by way of observation, how much we can just pass by, and how much we can so easily miss. It takes having a camera in hand, and a wish to expand on the image here on TE that helps me see so much more.

It has taken me 55 years to visit these gardens (a job made much easier by National Trust taking over their upkeep in recent years !), having driven past their front gate many many times. It is a fabulous landscape, and adorned by over 40 amazing pieces of statuary and monument. Walking about the gardens looking but not always seeing, it would be easy not to understand the relevance of all these pieces, and the stories they are all meant to tell.
