Photographer's Note
St Andrews, Fife. Where do you start ?
A town named for the Patron Saint of Scotland. The home of the oldest university in Scotland. A Centre of Religion. The Home of Golf. Site of Royal Romance, the list goes on !
By comparison, this modest view is taken from the children's playground, looking back at the ruins of the abbey, across the harbour.
Much more information can be found here, but better still visit for yourself, what a wonderful place.

Hi Martin,
this is a very well composed impression of this idyllic village you are presenting today, the perspective is excellent. You have captured a wonderful mood and the gentle colors are very beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Do you have more images of this interesting place?
Warm regards

Hello Martin,
I was quite enjoying the tranquility of the scene until I saw the rocket ready for launch on the skyline!
Nice complementary colours in a good composition.
Best wishes Les.

Hello Martin,
Just back from a few days away in Pitlochry so now catching up with critiques.
This picture deserves a lot more attention and acclaim than it has so far received. Curiously enough, although St. Andrews is a wonderfully attractive place with many fine buildings and ruins, there are remarkably few pictures here of it - in fact, I have only one picture from here - something I must remedy as soon as possible.
This is a wonderfully restful view and one of which I am not really familiar. I think part of the reason that this has not commanded very much attention is because the colours and lighting are just too true to life for many - no gaudy, oversaturated colours or wildly processed sky, just a fine composition with very natural colours.
Your composition is excellent with St. Rule's tower and part of the ruins of the Cathedral perfectly placed at the left junction of thirds. Did you go up St. Rule's tower and enjoy the view from the top? Lovely soft reflections on the calm water and fine natural colours. Exquisite sharpness as usual.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.
