Olympic Rings upon Tyne, a photo from Tyne and Wear, England

Photographer's Note

The Olympic references are more and more common in photos from the UK and I feel like I am being a bit behind the main stream. So here you are: these are Olympic Rings which I found in Newcastle upon Tyne. Of course the Olympics are far away from here but I guess the whole country is enjoying the spirit.
I have already presented in my TE gallery a view from similar POV taken at the night time (click here). The Tyne Bridge, which serves as a support for the Rings, is a smaller version of the famous Harbour Bridge in Sydney. Build by the same company from Middlesbrough where I currently live. The sharp spire in the left belongs to All Saints Church. I have also presented a photo taken from the Tyne Bridge itself but the clouds were quite different on that day (click here). Once I wrote that there are not many photos from Newcastle on TE but later I realized that the problem is that people upload photos from this city to a wrong county. Newcastle indeed belongs to the region called Northumberland, which people usually select, but formally it is part of a smaller metropolitan county called Tyne and Wear. Both Tyne and Wear are the names of rivers.

Hello Mariusz,
This will become a historical picture as later the Olympic rings will most likely be removed of the bridge.
The composition is excellent with a lot of lines going into different directions.
I really like those long clouds in the sky. Wonderful!
You mentioned the problem people sometimes have to post pictures on the right place on TE. The first time I experienced this problem, was with my photos of Stockholm. The Swedish capital belongs to two different provinces (Uppland and S鐰ermanland) and for most visitors of the city it isn't clear which part belongs to which province. For the Swedes this won't be a problem of course. When I look on TE at the pictures of my country, I find it so strange that photos of Bruges for instance are sometimes classified within the province of Flemish Brabant. But I can imagine that it is not easy for foreign visitors to know the correct classification.

Hello Mariusz,
This view certainly benefits from being shown in colour. The red, white and green of the bridges are such essential parts of the view that they shouldn't be missed. There are also fine intersecting diagonals in the foreground, and on this day some amazingly shaped clouds.

Hello Mariusz - A super shot which has so much to offer besides the Olympic rings. The strong POV with the river piers leading in on the diagonal. The brilliant white and orange bridge in the FG and the attractive span of the green bridge against the sky. And what a sky ... beautifully figures and full of movement. The contrasts, colours, clarity and sharpness in this picture are so stunning that it almost stands out in 3D on my monitor! It is a perfectly composed photograph which compares very interestingly with your previous night-time black and white picture. Beautiful work, urbanscape by the river from high pov. I just really like how well you frame the two bridges with that vivid colors under bright light as they brighten up to otherwise dull looking concreate jungle there in almost monotone. Impressive depth and perspective so well detailed imo, the forground subjects give the picture the strength and enhanced by wonderful sky and deep colored water. Well done, TFS

Witaj, fajnie wygląda ten symbol Olimpiady zawieszony na moście. Fantastyczna jakośc zdjęcia - naturalne kolory, niesamowita postrośc, głębia i tak dalej. Ciekawy ten czerwony most. No i jakie niebo ci sie trafilo.
Wczoraj wielkie rozczarowanie z Radwańską. Rozbudzili ogromne nadzieje i teraz przykro. Biedna dziewczyna. Ale przynajmniej siatkarze nie zawiedli.
Pojutrze jadę na małe wakacje, już tak długo siedziałam w domu.

Hi Mariusz,
the Olympic Rings on the structure of the bridge are a good complement related to the current events in G.B., but there are more interesting elements in your composition.
As the graphism of the bridges, the diagonal of the river, the sight of the city, and especially, the brushstrokes of the clouds on the blue sky.
The ensemble has a great beauty, a good light and a beautiful colors.

Hello Mariusz,

Yes, Olympic fever is everywhere and quite rightly so since we are hosting this wonderful spectacle of sport.
Your pov has fine guides to lead towards the 'Olympic' bridge, with just a little halt, as we study the intermediate red bridge. Your exposure is spot-on giving sharp and interesting details.
I wonder how you would feel about cropping a little of the sky! I know it is beautiful but with a little cropping, the bridge, which is the title of your shot, is brought significantly closer.
I hope you are not offended by my suggestion.

Fantastic shot, so many layer of element here in this composition with good depth. Two different type of bridges and different colors and the city skyline. Everything is in such great details. I'm sure on the orginal size, you can zoom in and still get a perfect photo each area. Love the blue sky and that featherly clouds, like brush strokes across the sky.

You poor thing, you;re operating on such little sleep and yet you still manage to produce such a lovely photo. Excellent reportage shot of what's happening in England at the moment. Ive been glued to the screen until all hours of the morning because of the time difference. Anyway, your photo has a great POV, is pin-sharp, beautifully saturated and those clouds top it off perfectly. I hope you're keeping well and glad to see that the Stormtroopers haven't got you...yet.

Fascinating and stunning panorama of the city, the city seems very interesting and of course the beautiful bridge is a trademark. The sky is gorgeous and complements this beautiful image.

you have chosen a great viewpoint form which to capture the city skyline. the two pier like structures leading diagonally into the image are placed very well. the hints of yellow and red metal work contrast superbly with the wonderful blue sky. the detail in stunning,as is your depth of field.

When time arrives to put the location of a photo I study the map to add the exact one, not very easy sometimes

As usual your notes are filled with interesting tid-bits of information, always a worth while read.
I never knew that this was the same company that built the coat hanger, but clearly the resemblance is there.
anytime there are waterways or canals, the photo opps are there, and here you took advantage of it.
my first response to the photo was of the cool looking clouds, gotta love that.
also as usual, your crisp and clear photos are just that, i wouldn't expect anything less from you.

The wide angle lens actually comes into full effect here as we can see a wide expanse of the town with the main focus being the bridge (similar to Sydney, as already mentioned by you, but was my first reaction as well) with the Olympic rings. The radiating clouds are interesting as well. Good light & well composed picture!
