Photographer's Note

Brick lane is famous for two things, one is the Curry houses, and the second is the awesome graffiti art.
Their are lots of tour company's who arrange walks around Brick lane.

The first walk focused on the historically significant Boundary Estate area (once the notorious Old Nichol slum) and the eclectic art scene of surrounding Hoxton and Shoreditch.
The second walk focuses a lot more on the street art scene, sticking pretty close to Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road, where it seems that every free surface is coated in graffiti, paste ups and even sculptures. The best tube stations to start from are Aldgate or Aldgate East, both of which come out onto Whitechapel High Street on either side of Osbourne Street. The best time for the walk is a Sunday or a weekday evening, when more shops are shut revealing shutter art. Brick Lane is closed to traffic for a street market on a Sunday which provides a fantastic diversion � as well as a great soundtrack � on the walk, but it does get very crowded. The good news is, most of the best art is to be found on side streets, meaning momentary escape from the crowds. Info East London Street Art Walk.

I like murals as a different decoration of walls, some murals are very nice, this here is a colorful and well painted graffiti, well spotted and captured

Hi Iain

I live not from Birmingham, though I lived there for some 15 years from 1991 onwards so I am a huge fan of curry having experienced the Balti houses of Birmingham. I have yet to have a Brick Lane curry though it is on my to do list since I visit London fairly regularly. Seeing this also gives me another reason to visit - another great piece of street art. It's a good job this isn't in the USA or the title would take on a whole different meaning!

I love how the row of vertical bricks breaks through with a touch of reality in the lower left corner.

So this is where Jessica Rabbits less well behaved sister ended up :)
This is yet another beautiful work, a skilled artist and a wonderful way to brighen up these walls. I really like how some of the brickwork has not been painted and we can see the lines and texture of the wall, giving the whole image a kind of 3D vibe. The colors of neon blue and neon pink work well together too, and I think that the first time I have ever sad that! Cool post, you have me fascinated to see this lane someday. Looks like hours of shooting to be done!

Hi Iain, What you write about Brick Lane sounds very interesting and inviting. Must be great fun to see these artistic graffiti. This is a fine example of one of them and you gave a good title. Well seen, excellent presentation.

I have never been to Brick Lane, though coincidentally I am having a curry tonight:-) Seems to be a fascinating place. I am not a fan of graffiti usually but this out of the ordinary by someone with a fine brush and a touch of humour. Excellent capture with superb colours and detail.
Continues cool and changeable here.

You've given us some very useful information in your interesting and informative note -- just the thing for those of us who might be considering a visit to Brick lane and its surrounding area.

And this is a brilliant photograph of some very expertly done grafitti art. You have captured the vibrancy of the colours and the contrasts and light perfectly in this well taken and well composed image.

The colours really sting! Isn't it amazing how this is created by the artists to convey certain message livening the place up which is so much better than the bare dull grey walls. A welcoming artwork-graffiti cum wall painting is a world wide expression these days, indeed a really good clear image with 3D feel but one thing we can't deny; the vibrancy in colors is so eye catching and influential to any passers by. It's entertaining as well and all credit to the artists and you as well. It's fun and nicely done, Congrats

Amazing vivid colors, and an intriguing graffiti work.
Superbly taken picture. I was looking on Google-map a close view and ride on Brick-lane London, with the help of the small yellow man...
but did not find those you had captured there.
Nevertheless, enjoyable subject.
