Photographer's Note
In Scotland, and Great Britain in general, we don't get huge amounts of snow during the winter months. As a result, we are always unprepared and when snow does fall it seems to cause untold chaos with transport and on the roads particularly.
This year we have had a little more snow than usual and this picture was taken a few days ago when I went for a walk just a short distance from our home in Lanark and got caught in a snow shower.
ISO 640, 1/100 sec at f/11, focal length 55mm.

Ciao John
mi sembra una bella nevicata, neanche noi siamo abituati alla neve e anche qui c'è sempre il caos quando accade.
Credo che sia difficile abituarsi ai disagi.
Saluti

Hi John
well, great to see you my friend, Hope all is well your way. Its always a good day when we see you posting here.
living here in Vancouver, I can 100% relate to your experience. When we get snow the city falls apart, power lines freeze, tens of thousands of people go without power, local buses can't make it up hills, its a disaster. Luckily the snow always melts a day or 2 later.
as for the photo itself, we can certainly see all the wet snow falling, and its a bonus to have a red car and red jacket in the scene. thanks for this weather update, but I guess the snow is all gone now right? cheers Craig

Hello John,
"Unprepared" applies to many places where the "normal" weather pattern gone wild, and indeed that scene looks like unusual snowfall accumulated.
It is the effect of global warming par-excellence.
Yet, caught the heavy fall in fine manner, red car and red coat of one of the figures up the road off-set the grey and white prevailing tones.
Stay warm and have a nice new week,
Ike

Hi John
The little red hood in the back is eye catching, but we have time to discover that the snow is still falling

Hello John ,
I don't like winter and snow , but I must admit that this picture is really attractive , especially with the presence of the red jacket in this almost B&W scenery .
In Brittany , a rainy and cloudy winter , but not cold at all ...for the time being .
Best regards.

Hello John
There you are again. What weather: we've had nothing approaching this on the south coast, just lots of rain and wind. But you've made the best of the conditions by recording them for our benefit. The monochromatic sameness is beautifully punctuated by the bright red of the anoraked figure and the car. But whether I'd have included the car is another story.
When shall we two meet again?
Kind regards
Will

Hello John,
Good to see you posting again.
Also, good that you were walking when this happened; it could have been much more difficult had you been in your car. Had the snow been forecast?
WE have had snowfalls but they have not stayed on the ground for long, not to give us scenes like this!
You really have captured the mood. I like how the falling snow reduces the visibility into the b/g where the figure in red makes a strong presence.
The tracks and the converging walls work as an effective funnelling process.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
A red anorak and a red car brighten any dull day when a lot of snow could make life miserable. Watching the two persons is almost like looking through a tunnel, thanks to the surrounding trees and the dark area where there is no snow. We have had a few days like this in Stockholm this winter, and while it may look nice the first day,the snow almost immediately turns into dirty, unpleasant slush. I wish the weather gods could make up their minds. Either a real winter or none at all.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
I cannot say I am over fond of snow, except in pictures! Touch wood, we get very little down in this part of France but when it arrives it causes chaos just like in the UK. The red jacket and the red car make an interesting pair of counterpoints and serve to warm up the scene. Excellent rendering of the falling snow.

Hello John, good to see you posting again.
I feel very cold just viewing this Brrrr!
A good composition, in my opinion, the red car balances the figure in red, it would lose something without it, and it shows us how much snow has fallen already.
I like that we are looking through falling snow at the scene, it adds a lot of atmosphere.
Good shot.
Regards Jean.

Hello John
A splendid winter scene. One that we in the Netherlands also only see once in a few year and that brings the whole country to a still stand. But I like it. Especially if somebody with a fierce red coat brings colours to the scene although a red car or a red mailbox also are perfect.
Attractive picture. Well-observed and realized.
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hello, John!
The strong colors of the clothes and of the car make them really stand out in this snowy scene! Is there any partial desaturation in this photo? It looks beautiful! Very nice composition!
