Hell Bulent,

Indeed this place has something special.
Like if a ghost was living there.
This is due to the fog and the way you captured the light.
The POV is also excellent.

I posted a B&W version of the picture.
I believe it adds a little bit more to the "old house" effect.

Beautiful subject, I must agree with the haunted feel, you could just imagine daylight fading and the mist descending.....Interesting note, I'm pleased to hear that such a striking building was restored. Great Capture and Thanks for Sharing

Very nicely done. One of the few nice low contrast photos on this site. It seems the sharpness of the digital cameras is making it harder to capture shots like this.

Looks like a hard job to restore!

To find a precious stone and enjoy it for yourself, is one thing.
To share your amusement Bulent, with all those who want to share it with you - it's quite another one..
And now, I found it.
Thanks to some Turkish guy, living in America.
If atomic physics allow - him and his Japanese friends, with the help of a romantic Kodachrome - will travel to England to find me a Tudor old house of my dreams, straight from the pages of my first literature..
You know, the one with knights, and bad-guy wizards, and the dark manors in the deep forests, and a princess as innocent as only princesses innocent are.
And I'm a kid again, with the blush-red cheeks burning with emotion, reading a story, very close to the light of a window in the attic, and a friendly spider crawls slowly upon the pages of my book.
And don't even try to wake me up.

excuse me, I jus found you and this picture was on your intro page and I liked it very much! Yes, I like that hauntedfeeling that comes with it and I think Polonaise did a wonderful job with his workshop of putting emphasis on it. When I see your two pictures I just critiqued, I see that they both have an uncommon color tone, kind of cold. Is it some post-processing? Is it the film? Is it the scanning?
It truly is a beautiful finding!!

What a superb image Bulent! I have many pictures of thatched cottages, pristinely kept and freshly thatched, but I'd swap any ten for this one. The misty day murky weather serves to enhance the atmosphere of deriliction.

fantastic picture,magical place,the mistiness background shows that you take your photo at early morning,so I can hear the birds sound,I think Snowhite lived there.

I suppose it is difficult to keep a place in just the right state of dis-repair to be romantic. It would be interesting to see the restored property. The weather conditions at the time are perfect for this subject, creating a wonderful atmosphere. I see it has attracted a lot of WSs but I have to say your original is the best.

Firstly thank you for visiting my site and let me say your wonderful comments mean a great deal to me ......to the business at hand.
You are right I do like this shot very much and looking at the date you took it I myself had moved to a place in Oxford called Carterton (RAF Brize Norton)...this was whilst serving in the British Forces.
I think you captured the atmosphere perfect with the mystical fog lingering and to show what it was like ...I will find time and go and look for this place and see if the beauty is restored and maintained.

but this house is quite far from my chestnut cellar! Of course, not the geographical distance is interesting here but the appearance and the mood. This picture is almost on the border of photography (no wonder after having had a look at your own homepage), it is like a painted illustration of a 19th century English novel. (Far from the madding crowd?) Even the light fog is as if arranged by the artist.
Not a really nice theme but excellent photo, absolutely.
