Photographer's Note

Coming down the weir at the golf course in Haddington.

The Oooof is because the paddler did not have a canoe cagoule on & the water was cold after recent rains.

Bit of water on the lens can be seen on the left hand side - apologies, maybe should have cropped this out.

The weir was made to form ice in the winter to fill up an ice house beside the weir. This ice house could keep the ice through the summer for the use of the local local country house. Thos was in the days before refrigerators.

Nowdays the river usually doesn't ice over properly.
