Photographer's Note
First of 3 shots of Eilean Donan Castle. This one at dusk, around 8.30pm during a brief respite from the rain which can be seen moving away east up the loch and probably about to make it a very dreich night in Glen Sheil.
Still a good deal of light in the sky as the floodlights start to dominate. The tide, although low was running quite fast through the narrows which helped to produce a smooth surface over the exposure.

Dougie: Very nicely done. Great time of day, composition works well, good balance between the floodlights and natural light. I'll be visiting Scotland later this month and I hope this place will be one of the tour stops.

Hi Dougle,
This is magnificent!
I like so much the play of lights on the castle, that makes a very good contrast with the falling darkness.
The calm water and the reflections on it looks great.
You have made a beautiful composition.
Well done and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Dougie,
Cool shot of a place I absolutely love! The lights bring the subject out in what would otherwise have been pretty uninspiring light. My favorite bit is the glassy water and the reflected light. For some reason I find the left-most bit of dark land near the bridge to be a tad distracting. It seems to make the image lean very heavily to the left and pulls my eye away from the castle. I wouldn't want to crop it and lose the dramatic clouds overhead though. Maybe a slight lightening of the shadows would mitigate?
Cheers!

Hi Dougie
A much seen view, but nicely done. I like the low POV, and that whilst the castle is lit, we can still see detail in the mountains and clouds. The water is great too. Good work.

Hi Dougie!
Very beautiful shot! It looks like taken from a fairytale with knights, who save princesses, who are imprisoned in scary, dark castles. I think the cloudy sky fits rather well with this reading of your photo. The only thing missing is the evil wizard on the top of the castle throwing flashes into the sky.:-)
Cheers

Hello DOugie
Oh how I want to see this place everytime I see a photo from it. YOur photo really does it justice, the slow shutterspeed works well to provide a cottony feel to the water
well done

Hi, Dougie,
this is just fabulous. I love the POV and the way the well lit warm colors of the castle contrasts with the cloudy, grim looking sky. The composition is perfect for the eye to be drawn to the castle. Great shot!! Warm regards,

Hello Dougie,
It is when I see images like yours that I am saying to myself : "You have to go there"...
This dusk light just after the rain is superb and your composition is just perfect. The castel is idealy placed and the light on it enhances all the image. A beautiful picture, congratulations.
Have a nice day.

brilliant timing for ambient light=artificial for exposure
usually these cross lighting variations come out a bit surreal..
love the atmosphere
