Photographer's Note

I have just returned from beach holidays in Cyprus. It was fantastic. The only disadvantage was that it was too short. Because these were family holidays most of the time I have spent either in the resort or on the beach nearby (Nissi Beach). For two days however I have rented a car to drive around the island. Interestingly, because of its Britain related past, cars are driven there on the left hand side, also power plugs have typically British and not European design. Both made my life a bit easier.

There are three major ancient ruin sites on the island: Kourion, Paphos and Salamis. The best one is supposedly Kourion. It has been recently very well taken care of contrary to Salamis which I heard nobody wants to touch as it is in the Northern Cyprus. Having limited time only I picked Kourion. This photo presents fragment of the Early Christian Basilica. Although very interesting to see, such ruins are often challenging to photograph, especially if it is a hot day and you are carrying everywhere a 3- year old child on your shoulder. So I was glad to spot the lady wearing yellow skirt who added some life and color to the scene.
