Photographer's Note
For a few moments, I thought that a small earthquake can make us everlasting in the walls of this wonderful strait...
Chahkooh Strait
Strait or valley of Chahkooh is one of the spectacular regions in the geo-park of the Qeshm Island. The Qeshm geo-park is the largest in the Middle East.
The Chahkooh strait, a 100 m deep valley made of sedimentary rocks, is located near the village of Chahoo and is 70 km far from the Qeshm city.
At the beginning of the strait, the wide and high walls appear before the eyes of the visitors, but it gradually diminish in width -in some parts the distance between the walls is about 0/5 m- while the height of the walls is still high and so there is little light inside it.
Fancy shapes and holes are seen on the walls of this strait. Wind, rain and flood are the most important reasons for this large holes in the walls and this has happened through million of years.
Another attraction of the Chahkooh strait is several ancient shallow wells and water channels drilled by the Chahoo villagers at the beginning of the valley; so they could store fresh rainwater for drinking in such a dry and hot area.
To see the entrance of the strait and some of the ancient wells, please refer to the WS photos... thank you.

Salam Atousa,
interesting register. A good play with rock shapes and excellent highlight/shadow management. The human presence is very welcome. I guess this was under water million of years ago. Great job and TFS!

Hi Atousa,
Yes, the man in the photo looks almost as if he is part of the rock formation. If I don't look carefully, I almost would not see him. Anyway, it s avery nice quality shot, considering the light is very difficult between so much dark and light. You did a very nice job. I enjoye it and good composition too.

Salam Atousa,
A strange place, completely mineral, which maybe made you think about fossils! Surely an earthquake would be terrifying if trapped in there! The exposure is well managed and the man adds scale and human presence.

Hi Atousa,
Good frame to the unique geographical features, clear to see the complicated structures under low light, the passing people give an idea for the size of the rocky cave, interesting composition, thanks for sharing.

Fine exposure control as you took the picture from darkness to semi-light. Like the structures of the stone walls which definitely adds to the scene. The man helps provide scale. Well done!

Hello Atousa
Great management of the available light. The shadowed rock provides an unusual shaped frame. The man dressed in identical colours to the surrounding rocks is well positioned and provides a focus as well as perspective. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Atousa, A scary thought even if it was just momentarily. Interesting place as described by your informative note. The inclusion of human figure I think is an excellent idea not only for scale but It also add interest, difficult light is well managed, a good result.

Greetings Atousa,
A great photograph - hugely imporved by the presence of the man in the shot: putting human beings in to shots like this does not always work (for example if there were any more than one it would simply look like a crowd of tourists). But in this case, his clothing allow him to blend in somewhat, he adds a sense of scale and also a sense of mystery: where is he going? What is he doing there?
Great shot, thank you, Iain

Salam dear Atousa, such an eye-catching photo. I have a Theme on Caves of the World and hope you don;t mind me adding this beautiful photo to it. I love the play of light and shade, making the shot even more mysterious. The vertical frame suits perfectly the vertical rock formations and I love the textures and inclusion of the person to give us an idea of scale. TFS and I wish you a beautiful evening, Lisa
