Photographer's Note
This is a male falcon.
This falcon sat on an electric wire and waited to be photographed, of course I didn't hesitate and took his photo . . .
The sky were very dull, bright grey clouds and I decided that would be an advantage for simple composition, it would be like a studio background for my falcon.
The picture has cropped a little and straighten that the wire will be straight.
Hope you will enjoy.

I believe this is a peregrine falcon - one of the smallest of the falcons. I too like the sharpness and the simplicity of the photo. Many bird photos have too much clutter in the background.

Yes it's probably a peregrine falcon (male), and it's also the quicker bird that can be found. It is known to reach a speed of more than 300km/h (some say 400km/h but I think it's exagerated), when hunting for other birds. Your photo is really impressive ! Thanks for sharing it !!!

It is very simple and sweet Elroy, with a hint of artistic/advertising value to it. You are very lucky to get this simple capture of a posed bird. A new classical photograph to show photography students about composition and rule of thirds.Great work Elroy.

Very simple, yet powerful composition... and you managed to catch the bird as it looked at you!
Great shot.

Nice. But compositionally I think it could be improved if the wire came through about 1/3 of the way from the bottom. the bird is in a nice spot though. A good pic!
