Bearing the Cross, a photo from Jerusalem, Yerushalayim

Photographer's Note

This picture was taken at the celebration of Good Friday at the old city of Jerusalem.
Part of the ceremony is a walk on the via delarosa, which is the way that Jesus walked his last walk, while bearing the cross. the road starts at the Ecce Homo Convent and goes to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre.
The walk is following the 14 station in Jesus journey:
* Station 1: Jesus is condemned to death
* Station 2: Jesus takes up the Cross
* Station 3: Jesus falls under the Cross for the first time
* Station 4: Jesus meets his mother
* Station 5: Simon the Cyrenian is forced to carry the Cross
* Station 6: Veronica wipes the sweat from Jesus' face
* Station 7: Jesus falls for the second time
* Station 8: Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem
* Station 9: Jesus falls for the third time
* Station 10: Jesus is stripped of His garments
* Station 11: Jesus is nailed to the Cross
* Station 12: Jesus dies on the Cross
* Station 13: Jesus is taken down from the Cross
* Station 14: Jesus is laid in the Tomb

I like the angle and composition of this photo. The only thing is the background is a bit too overexposed for me, which kind of diverts some of the attention. Was this photo taken this past week?

This is a really amazing picture , with very dramatic angles. The shape of the cross stamps a strong angularity on the coposiition and this seems to hold all those heads together. I like the recession into the distance. You have some white-out in the top left corner, which stops the frame being as interesting as it could be.But, a great picture!

Hi Udi, I like your picture. It show a Christian ceremony. What I like the most, that the picture is calm withou showing any exegerrated emotions. This is a real celebration ceremony. The facial expression of the people shows dignity and sadness. Well done. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Michael

Astounding shot that makes full use of a) every millimter of the horizontal frame and b) your 18-70 lens on the wide end!
Ok, colors are a little ruddy to my eyes, but it is a sensational shot.
