Photographer's Note
This photo was taken on a trip in northern Lebanon, in the town where Saint Charbel Makhlouf was originally from. While walking down one of the many small, narrow streets I bump into this very typical scene. Lebanese people grow grape vines inside their home and allow for it to exit through a small hole so it reaches the ceiling. The grape vine will then spread nicely creating shade on the roof. Some use this area as a gathering place in early mornings or late afternoons. The grape vine provides excellent shade during the summer weather as well as fresh fruit!
