..the first close encounter I had in Jeddah was with this cat. There are many cats in the Souk, all of them are very, very slim, all of them come and go from the houses..sometimes it seems like they are the ones to inhabit the houses in al-Alawi instead of people...this one caught my attention because he was really friendly, and quite, enjoying his siesta in the moment of the day when the sun is high and really warm, and streets are empty....

..il primo incontro ravvicinato ad al-Alawi l'ho avuto con questo gatto. Ce ne sono tanti a Jeddah, nel centro storico. Sono magri, magrissimi, ma dignitosi. Girano su e gi�, entrano ed escono dai palazzi con noncuranza, come fossero loro i veri abitanti di quelle case in equilibrio precario. Questo mi ha colpito perch� era uno dei pochi che non si rifugiava dal caldo afoso sotto una macchina o un carretto...lui stava l�, proprio a casa sua, nell'ora in cui il sole � alto, molto caldo e le strade sono deserte....

There's a very pleasant atmosphere to this lovely composition. The intricate detail of the door decorations is very well rendered. The inquisitive cat is a nice bonus.

contrasto molto spinto ma solo in questo modo possono uscir colori cosi' calsdi e una ambientazione tanto particolare.

Hello Rikk,

Those last times you proposed some shots in this vertical panoramic. It is a non common frame but I find it interesting to manage and experiment.
It is well adapted to this subject thanks to the heigh of the door.
The cat is a good anchor in the composition, even more as it is looking us.
My only minor counter proposal would be to cut a bit of the bottom to put the cat more on the corner. Now, up to you if it is meaningful or not.

questa foto e' bellissima, i colori intensi, le zone in basso scure, il gatto spalmato sulla colonna e le scritte arabe e le decorazioni della porta che danno proprio l'atmosfera del paese arabo, caldo, e sonnacchioso.

bravo! bisogna sempre socializzare con i gatti, che' dei luoghi conoscono tutti i segreti, i misteri e le frequentazioni... bello questo micione dagli occhi penetranti e svegli, ben piazzato vicino questa splendida porta, custode di chissa' quali meandri...
bel lavoro di PP, i colori bruciati e lo sprazzo di luce al centro sono davvero appropriati.
anche io ho postato un micio oggi - anche lui custode ma di ben piu' modesti luoghi... :)

Ma grandissimo, amico mio! Questa antica porta istoriata cela segreti che non � dato carpire. Solo le streghe sanno...( difatti io so, ma non posso rivelare...). E il gatto...ah, lui! Magnificamente alonato di luce magica, gli occhi verdi scintillanti, anche lui sa... e fa da guardiano a quella porta chiusa. E' il suo compito. Lui ne � pienamente consapevole. Salterebbe in faccia a qualsiasi intruso. I misteri racchiusi in quella casa vanno rispettati. Sono storie drammatiche, sanguigne e dolorose. Antiche, eppure... mai davvero concluse. I fantasmi gridano l� dentro ogni notte...in quella casa non c'� pace....da secoli.

Ciao Rikk,
un bel taglio verticale per un'immagine che ha un'atmosfera mistica, (almeno per me).
Forse per la presenza del gatto che � spesso raffigurato come divinit�, per il modo di come ti guarda e anche per la forte tonalit� di colore rosso del portone antico.

Elementi che messi insieme mi trasmettono questa sensazione.

Mi sembra di aver capito che si tratta di un'immagine esterna, poi la targa in alto alla colonna forse � il nome della strada.
Ma il tuo taglio e la luce particolare (HDR?), fa tutto sembrare come se fosse una foto di interno.

Un bel po' di contrasto, forse troppo? Ma c'� una gran bella luce riverberata e la composizione � da 110 e lode, con regola dei terzi applicata solo in una dimensione, e diversi motivi a scandire le tre zone in verticale.

Ciao caro Rikk, I see that you and The Assessore were thinking the same thoughts with your "Taglio Rikko" today. Even in thumbnail, the warm colours gave the clue that this was the middle East or somehwre very hot and exotic. I love the light on the cat and can imagine how crazy Paololg will love this photo. Wonderful! I really like your colour treatment and the light in this shot is fabulous. I absolutely love doors and this one is so beautiful with its intricate carvings an detail. The cats face and especially eyes are nicely lit, and I like that the image is divided almost perfectly in two halves between the door and the nice textured wall. The cat seems to have found a comfortable perch for its self here.
