Photographer's Note
The Goreme Open Air Museum is almost in the centre of Goreme and worth walking to or from, or even both ways, via the Evil Eye church and Love Valley. This section has a dozen or so churches and monasteries hidden in the rocks. Unfortunately photography was banned in all of them, thanks to indiscriminate use of flash by mostly clueless tourists. My favourite was the Dark Church (also known as the Black Church) and you can see an example of the magnificent interior here:

The Buckle Church (Tokali Kilise) was another good one:

Amazing picture, must say, the place is intriguing, photography-wise, Chris.
There are imaginary "faces" carved on the rocks.
My cong.'s for this one,

Hello Chris,
I recently scanned a few photos from Göreme taken in 1970. I might show them here later this winter, even though the quality is very far below this. I remember this place well, and the fantastic interiors, but I can't remember any area called an Open air museum.
From some of the ancient graves in Luxor I remember desperate guards trying to stop tourists from using flashes on the delicate paintings. I couldn't believe how people could be so senseless.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
Le sentier envoie mon regard vers le musée ce qui donne d ela profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du musée de Goreme. La lumière met en valeur la beauté des couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
Those rock formations are truly amazing and look so good in the clear sunlight and against the blue sky. Good inclusion of the path and the yellow and green grass in the foreground.

Hi Chris
Now that is a path that I have followed in 1998 (and from which have only a limited supply of usable photos). This good photo shows up well some of the carved caves used for dwellings.
cheers

Hello Chris,
I was in Cappadocia in 1983 and found it an amazing area.
It was a time with relatively few visitors and certainly no hot air balloons.
Excellent picture of these spectacular rock formations.
Well presented with the path leading to them.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Chris,
This is a very picturesque of Goreme Open Air Museum.
Fantastic rock formations ... and there are turning into churches and monasteries. How marvellous is that !!!
I would definitely happy to explore every hidden corner ... till I have 'sore-feet' :-)
Wow...that Dark Church is amazing. The magnificent interior is 'mind-blowing' as well as the Buckle Church.
I've been to Turkey once. And I was telling to myself no more Turkey but seeing this place ... very tempting :-)
Tfs and the great links, as usual.

Hello Chris,
This is a remarkable place, beautifully photographed to show the different churches, feigning to be rocks!! It looks like something from a Disney Cartoon, where the goblins might live.
I like how you have used the pathway so effectively and carefully composed this amazing scene!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,
This place has a surreal look to it, both the natural rock shapes and the windows and doors cut into them. The sun was at just the right angle to highlight the shapes.

Hi Chris,
Those rocks look amazing even without hidden monasteries. And those carved places make this even more wonderful. I'm glad that this place looks free of crowds on your shot. I wonder what the situation was in reality.

Hi Chris,
Beautiful composition! You had such a great weather there and the resulting colors are so vibrant and eye catching.
I just love the extraordinary rock formations. I had the chance to visit the place but I would like very much to return and spend more time in this magical place.
You have nicely used the path in the foreground to lead us to the entrance.
Excellent quality work,
Have a happy New Year!
