Photographer's Note
Zeytinlik騽, the birthplace of the first Bartholomew.
Place of birth of the present Ecumenical Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church Bartholomew (1940), Zeytinlik騽 is a village which, as its name suggests, is surrounded by olive groves. It is located on the island of G闥蔒ada (Imbros).
Formerly Aghii Theodori, here we just enjoy various specialties of the island: Dibek Kahvesi (in coffee from Madam Dibek, which is no longer of this world), and the cicirya (sort of white pizza adorned with cheese, thyme and egg) or the vişinada (drink cherry).
One enters a quiet village with stone houses, but most were abandoned in the last century. Less than 80 people live in this village now.
The schools have fallen into ruins, after their closures (this measure is school hell幯ophones of the island and date of the second half of the 20th century). One can only just see the remnants of the old primary school housed the village children.

Hi, I love this setting , with the little courtyard and rough furniture- I guess this is where they call home-- its so much nicer than living in a city- well captured. I hope you enjoyed your time in Turkey. HAFD Rich

Howdy Valerie,
Intriguing image for the emphasis on the curving railing with the ancient house out of focus. Whether intentional or not?
An apperture setting of F22 should have made the background sharper?
Thanks for sharing, cheers,
Ray

Bonjour Valerie
Good idea of a frame with focus on the arced railing, with just enough DOF to see the buildings in the BG. Light seems to be on the harsh side, but very well handled. A good informative note to boot!
Best Regards

Hi,the problem with this picture is that the foreground and the out of focus backround are of equal photographic interest. As it is,you might have given the beautiful castiron in the foreground more dominance in the composition.Friendly regards Wolf.

Salut chere Valerie, a most unique and particular composition. I love the shallow depth of field with the FG so sharp and the background blurred. The colour rendering is beautiful and the intricate ironwork of the gate adds interest to the image. TFS and I wish you a beautiful day. Bonne amicalement, Lisa
