Photographer's Note
Renovations to the Blue Mosque started in 2017 and were supposed to last for four years. Well, construction was still going on strong in May 2021 and some contributor to its page on Tripadvisor commented that it was supposed to continue until 2024. For the time being, visiting the Blue Mosque interior is quite a letdown. Gone is the ethereal dome and in are the ugly false ceiling and fake columns.
But, these will be historic photos once the renovations are over.

Hello Murat,
What a disappointment to you, but you got yourself a number of quite original photos. At least the carpet and the mihrab look genuine. WS #2 is also very eye-catching.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Murat, What the disappointment for the tourists that now visit Blue Mosque! I am sure that after renovation is done, it will be magnificent again. But at the moment it looks strange. The new ceiling and new columns here are ugly, but it is just temporarary necessity.
Fortunately, I saw Sultanahment interior in all its glory, as you can see here:

Hello Murat,
This is such a famous, spectacular building, that you must have been hugely disappointed by what you experienced!
I suppose, you are showing what Pavle has been recording recently, that there is a stage when things look very ordinary until the renovation is complete.
If you return, you could have some interesting before and after photographs.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Murat,
Too bad about the renovations and just like everywhere else they take longer than expected as well. Still the stained-glass windows, the golden parts in the background and the patterns on the red carpet are still clearly seen here.

Ciao Murat, these attempts to reproduce what the original view would be like are a little laugh and certainly are and will be a big disappointment for tourists who in fact do not seem very interested, so I postpone my trip no earlier than 2024 to see the works at the end .. ehhee ..post very useful and well done as always. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Murat
I am glad that I saw the interior of the Blue Mosque before they commenced these renovations. I hope they are faster restorations than those at the Acropolis! Tfs!

I can imagine your deception, it was like me when I saw "mother russia" one of the largest statues of the world covered with scaffolds. If I had knew about I would have visited another town.
take care

Hello Murat.
It is disappointing when you travel to find a monument hidden by restorations, but it is necessary to continue enjoying it for much longer, this wonderful mosque is not interesting at all.
Well done.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Murat,
It would be a nice photo if we didn't know that we should expect much more from this place. I like how you look at the bright side, yes I think many photos on TE show a transition period of a place and the overall collection of photos here is amazing for that reason. Even more sad to see it dying out.
Great reportage!
