Photographer's Note
To get to Gorçeada, take the boat from Çanakkale to Eceabat, then make a few kilometers for a second boat from Kabatepe to Gokceada.
Çanakkale is a city in Turkey, capital of the eponymous province, situated on the shores of the Dardanelles.
The city was founded by Mehmet II the Conqueror near the ancient city of Abydos. He built a fortress, which first took the name of Kale-i Sultani Kalessi Sultaniye or "Sultan's palace" before taking the name of Canakkale, literally "house of the pot" because of its shape. This fortress is also known as Castle of Asia versus Europe Castle (Kilitbahir) which faces it across the strait.
In this city were fighting bloody battles over the Dardanelles different. Thus do we find around many military graves. In the heart of National Park History of the Peninsula of Gallipoli, Canakkale owes its fame to the famous archaeological site of Troy and the remains of Assos, located nearby.
Canakkale has an airport.
Canakkale University has its University of Çanakkale (in) (Turkish: Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi).

Salut chere Valerie, tres belle photo. The soft pink tones are so romantic and create a very vivid atmosphere of summer. The boats and piers add graphical interest and colour. An excellent shot from a lovely place, TFS et bonne journee, Lisa

Hi Valerie
What i like most is the ambient of this harbour, soft pinkish color in the late afternoon light. The clarity is superb with nice foreground subjects that add interest to this imge. Lovely panorama format, excellent contrast and great dof. Well done shot, Vallerie. TFS

Hi Valerie, I like the parallelism of the bridge and the tow boats in the same direction. The late hour created a nice hue in the sky, as well. Good work, congratulations!

A great picture from my country. Fantastic sunset view and there is here a little bit melancholy that makes this picture more dimensional. Bravo ihsan
